The Majestic God of The King James Bible

By David J. Stewart | June 2019

Psalms 72:17-18, “His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.”

I went walking this morning at 5:30 and took the following photos to share with my web visitors. Truly, our wondrous God is more than amazing. Humbly, praise be the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, my God, friend and Savior! Praise be our God, who maketh the sun to rise and set each day, shewing forth His omnipotent power and majesty of our great Creator and God. ...

Psalms 136:8, “The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Psalms 50:1, “The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.”

Psalms 74:16, The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.”

Psalms 89:36, “His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.”

Psalms 104:19, “He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.”

Psalms 113:3, “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised.”

Psalms 148:3, “Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.”

Psalms 84:11, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”

Judges 5:31, “So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.”

Ecclesiastes 1:3, “What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?”

Ecclesiastes 1:5, “The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.”

Ecclesiastes 1:9, “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”

Jeremiah 31:35, “Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name.”

Malachi 1:11, “For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.”

Malachi 4:2, “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”

When I walked in the door this morning, returning from my sunrise walk, I heard this passage of Scripture, which I immediately knew was a good text to use in my article on God's majesty, because so many people rail against our good God. ...

Luke 23:35-42, “And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”

Just as the unsaved malefactor on the cross who railed upon Christ, so also do heathens today everywhere rail against our blessed Savior. Atheist comedian George Carlin (1937-2008) often railed against our majestic God. During one of his stand-up comedy shows, Carlin actually challenged God to strike him dead if God really exists, but nothing happened. Then Carlin turned to the audience and said, “See? Nothing happened,” after which he ended the show. We see this type of sinful railing against God much in these last days.

Why didn't both men believe on Christ? Think about that my dear reader. Why did one man humbly realize that he deserved to be crucified, but the other man only sought a means to escape? It is clear from the passage that the repentant thief on the cross did in fact believe Jesus to be the only begotten Son of God, the Christ, which is why he asked to be “remembered” when Jesus came into His kingdom. It is also clear from the passage that the other man, who was also a convicted thief, mocked the Savior in disbelief, sincerely doubting that Jesus was Whom He had publicly claimed to be—THE CHRIST! Luke 23:39, “And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.” Why did one man believe, but the other didn't? Only God can answer that question, but I think it is simply because God has made each and every human being a free agent, to decide for our self.

Carefully notice in the preceding passage of Scripture from Luke 23:35-42 that THREE groups of people said: “IF THOU BE THE CHRIST, SAVE THYSELF”:

  1. THE PEOPLE - Luke 23:35, “And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.”
  2. THE SOLDIERS - Luke 23:36, “And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.”
  3. THE UNBELIEVING MAN ON THE CROSS - Luke 23:39, “The unrepentant thief on the cross Luke 23:39, “And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.”

I have heard such statements of mockery and skepticism all my life from non-believers. An older co-worker many years ago in his forties (I was in my early twenties) said to me, “I won't believe the Bible until God Himself comes to my front door and says, 'This is My Word!'” Kindly, that man is a fool! Luke 16:31, “And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” If a person will not heed the written Words of God in the King James Bible, then nothing will convince them to come to Christ to be saved! I have often heard unbelievers say: “There are so many religions, what makes yours the right one?” But then when I try to explain the truth to them, they make other excuses not to believe the Words of God. The simply truth is that they are God's enemy and nothing will convince them to get saved. Thousands of people directly saw Jesus Christ perform amazing miracles, including healing amputees and seeing the dead raised back to life; yet they refused to believe on Him, among whom included the wicked religious Pharisees, who had Jesus wrongly tried and crucified.

Jesus said that John the Baptist met the same rejection from the unsaved religious crowd. Matthew 21:32, “For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.” Isn't that interesting, how that some of God's worst enemies are religious people? Go figure! John 15:20, “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” I am encouraged by the preceding Bible verse. Jesus said that His servants are not greater than He, and that we should reasonably expect to be persecuted as He was, even hated, disowned by family and martyred for preaching the truth. Jesus said if they kept His Word, they will also keep our Words.

God is a good God, and greatly to be praised. Psalms 145:9, “The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.” The majority of Americans are some of the most ungrateful, rebellious and stubborn people in history. Thankfully, our nation also has some of the best people, Christians, who fear God and love their neighbour as them self. Unfortunately, the heathens far outnumber the caring Christians, as we are losing the battle, but the war has already been won by Jesus Christ. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” I thank God for all His blessings in my life, including all the bad things, which make me appreciate the good things even more! So many people in this wicked world place God on trial, blaming Him for what evil men and women do.

I think the scene of the crucifixion—with Christ in the middle, and two criminals on either side of Him, all nailed to their own cross—is a perfect illustration of the world throughout time. One hardened man in his sinful pride and unbelief railed upon Christ, saying, “If thou be Christ, save thyself and us”; but the other repentant man cried out in humility, “Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” I love that last phrase... “LORD, REMEMBER ME!” That is how you get saved my friend, by childlike faith in the dear Savior. No amount of remorse or human effort can get a man into Heaven, Jesus warned that, “YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN” (John 3:7b).

Micah 7:18, “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.” I love my Redeemer—the majestic God of the inspired King James Bible! God is dear to me, Who has revealed Himself to the world in the Person of Jesus Christ. No man can come to the Father except through His only begotten Son, Jesus...

When I behold the beauty, warmth and power of the sun, I am continually reminded of our omnipotent and good God. Only a fool would doubt God's existence, in lieu of the thousands of scientific miracles and impossibilities that surround us in the universe.

I know how God feels, to be continually placed on trial by family. A family's love ought not be conditional. My agonizing neck pain is so horrible all the time, which has adversely affected my life. My chronic neck pain began in 2004, originating from a church bus accident in 1992 that misaligned the natural curve in my neck. This led to Degenerative Cervical Disk Disease down the road, which due to the nature of my job working on machinery years later aggravated my condition. My wife of 18 years selfishly abandoned me in 2006, and I have been so lonely ever since, with no one one by my side to share in life's burdens and heartaches. If it weren't for the wondrous grace of my great God and Savior, and His inspired Words in the King James Bible, and His blessed Holy Spirit Who indwells my body and soul, I would have commit suicide long ago. Oh, it is wonderful to be a Christian! My soul longs to go home and be with my Savior in Heaven, but until that time, I will live alone and keep preaching THE TRUTH to help others for my precious God and Savior!

I am so thankful to God that He chose to live inside my very being as His child, to be as close to me as I need to be with Him. John 14:23, “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” Because He lives, I can face tomorrow!
