The NIV Says False Prophets Should "Emasculate" Themselves!
By David J. Stewart
Zondervan first published the New International Version (NIV) New Testament in partnership with the International Bible Society (IBS) in 1973, later publishing the complete NIV Bible in 1978.
The apostle Paul wrote to the believers at Galatia to warn them about the consequences of yoking together with unbelievers (Galatians 6:7). False religion had reared it's ugly head and Paul was very concerned. He warns them about those who would dare preach another Gospel (Galatians 1:7,8). The Apostle Paul says in Galatians 5:12 that it was his desire for such false prophets to be cut off. What did Paul mean by "cut off." The Greek meaning for "cut off" is "to amputate." Thus, to separate. Literally, put just wanted them to go away. False prophets are a thorn in the flesh to the work of Christ. But look at how the NIV misinterprets Galatians 5:12...
KJB: - "I would they were even cut off which trouble you."
NIV: - "As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves."
The NIV is actually saying that the Apostle Paul wanted the false prophets (trouble makers) to go cut their genitals off. "Emasculate" means to "castrate." Now how would that make anything better for the church of Galatia? The NIV translation doesn't even make any sense. The truth is that Paul was frustrated that a false cult was trying to corrupt his converts with Devilish doctrines. Paul was concerned with a "godly jealousy" over his coverts as we also see in church of Corinth (2nd Corinthians 11:2). Paul was worried about the influence of the heretics upon the new converts. So Paul simply tells them that he wishes the false prophets would be gone.
Do you think for one moment that the Apostle Paul wanted someone to go castrate themselves? How silly.
Easier to Read the NIV?
According to the International Bible Society, the NIV is easier to read, but is it really? How many people do you think know what "emasculate" means? Not many! I had to look up the word myself. The NIV publishers, promoters, and sellers lie when they claim that the NIV is easier to read. The King James Bible correctly translates Galatians 5:12 and it's meaning makes good sense.
Also, the RSV and NASB use the words "mutilate themselves" instead of "cut off." Mutilate? I don't think so. Again these are perversions of God's Word. It is NOT surprising that the modern corrupt bible's have spawned a generation of heretics that deny the blood of Jesus, preach Lordship salvation, despise Biblical separation, and deny the Biblical Pretribulation rapture!
