The group AWAB is misleading in my humble opinion, because they claim to be exercising Christ's love for unrepentant homosexuals. And that's the key word “unrepentant.”
One foolish AWAB board member writes...
“I'm thankful that my own American Baptist faith is not hateful, unlike the fear expressed in the SBC's misguided resolution. For me, it's an issue of "What would Jesus do?" I believe Jesus would love and accept ALL His sheep, regardless of whether their sex-assignment at birth matches the gender identity of their soul.”
Kindly, Miss Knauerhase is not right with God and is errant in her thinking. She calls the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) “hateful,” but they are not hateful against people, they are hateful against evil. They are obeying God in this matter at the SBC. Psalms 97:10, “Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.” Homosexuality is a sin, but the homosexual agenda is evil. Evil is planned sin. Evil is deliberate sin. The homosexual agenda seeks to normalized lesbianism, homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenders in society, including in all the churches. This is evil of the worst sort. Christian believers are commanded in Psalms 97:10 to HATE EVIL, just as Jesus hates evil (Hebrews 1:9). Miss Knauerhase is twisting the Scriptures, attempting to use God's love as an excuse for justifying sinful behavior.
Yes, God loves sinners, and is willing to forgive them on the basis of Christ's sacrifice on the cross; but God will never accept homosexuality as an acceptable form of behavior. It is sin. AWAB demonizes churches for preaching from the pulpit that homosexuality is a sin, going as far as to claim that preaching against homosexuality harms individuals and families...
AWAB Calls on the SBC to Recant Anti-Transgender Resolution

The Board and Staff of the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists (AWAB) are angered by the Southern Baptist Convention's resolution condemning the transgender community as particularly "fallen" and, if not repentant of their very nature, outside the fellowship of the church and communion with God. We are gravely concerned about the message this sends to transgender persons, a message that says "if you pray and give your life over to Christ you will be healed.”
This is the same message that has been told to gay and lesbian people for decades. This practice has spawned the “Ex-Gay” ministry movement as well as the pseudo-psychology of reparative therapy. These practices have caused significant harm to individuals, their families and the churches that they are and have been a part of. The resolution on transgender people passed at the 2014 annual meeting of the SBC will surely spawn the same kinds of ministries and practices aimed at the Transgender Community. Of course, the exact opposite is true, not preaching against the evils of homosexuality harms individuals, families and churches. We are living in a wicked generation that has forgotten the God of the Bible. These are the end times!
Few Christians do their homework. I have spoken with umpteen professed Christians who live in isolation in their own little world, oblivious to the Luciferian conspiracy at work in the world (aka, the New World Order). They couldn't care less about what really happened on 09/11/01 when the World Trade Center (WTC) was bombed in New York. There is a ton of eye-opening, shocking and important information available to educate Christians, but most of them just don't care. Most believers are complacent in their apostate churches, lukewarm, waiting for the Rapture to take them away so they don't have to deal with any of “the negatives.”
Well, I am one of the few born-again Christians who do care. I CARE about the truth!
