'Assemblies Of God' Heresy On Losing Salvation

Acts 19:14-15, “Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

       Kindly, the Assemblies Of God Church are of the Devil. Like unsaved Seventh-Day Adventists, they look like Christians, talk like Christians and sing like Christians, BUT THEY ARE NOT CHRISTIANS! How do I know that? I know because Assemblies of God (aka, Pentecostals) teach a false plan of salvation which requires human effort to get to Heaven. The Biblical plan of salvation is that we are all guilty sinners in God's holy eyes (Romans 3:19), deserving of the penalty of eternal damnation in the fires of Hell; but God in love unconditional love sent His only begotten Son into the world, to die on the cross for our sins, He was buried, and bodily raised up from the dead the third day. That is the Gospel or Good News (1st Corinthians 15:1-4).

I am not writing this article in a spirit of maliciousness; but rather, love for others in the Holy Spirit, desiring for you to correctly interpret the Holy Scriptures and be saved. Assemblies of God, Charismatics, Pentecostals, and many non-affiliated groups, all share the same heretical beliefs: 1) lordship salvation; 2) speaking in unknown jibber-jabber tongues; 3) bizarre fake healing meetings; 4) salvation can be lost. In this article, I am going to refute the heresy that salvation can be lost, because it cannot! If saved, always saved!

What is the Assemblies of God position on the security of the believer's salvation?

...Luke 8:13 makes clear the fact that believers can lose their salvation. It says some "believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away." Revelation 22:19 says "If anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life, and in the holy city."

Certainly there are true Christians who believe and teach Calvinism; there are also true Christians who believe and teach that men and women have free will. Unfortunately, both sides have spent more time arguing doctrinal terminology and interpretations of theology than reaching out to a lost world. The irony of the disagreement is that Calvinists, who believe in predestination, are sometimes more active in witnessing and evangelism than Arminians who believe that man has a free will and should be encouraged to accept Christ as Savior. God, of course, looks on the heart and the actions rather than on the eloquence with which one defends a position.

CONCERNS:

Although the Assemblies of God adheres basically to the Arminian position on the spiritual security of the believer, there are extremes and potential abuses which must be avoided. The Christian life is not a roller coaster of Sunday salvation and Monday through Saturday backsliding. On the other hand, no Christian, no matter how spiritual, can claim perfection and sinlessness (1 John 1:8-10; 2:1). Therefore as Christians we must continually come to God sincerely asking His forgiveness for living below the potential He makes possible through the gift of His Holy Spirit.

The truth of God's marvelous and free grace has sadly led some to imagine and indulge in a cheap grace, a grace that covers all sins with no need to live a holy life. Such an attitude is an insult to the great price Christ paid to purchase our salvation. Though we may fail and fall, and sometimes sin, the heart of the true believer always regrets, repents, asks forgiveness, and seeks never to sin that way again. To carelessly participate in sin, expecting to gain forgiveness later, is itself an act of backsliding that will lead ultimately to losing one's salvation. We therefore reject any "once saved, always saved" doctrine that excuses sinful lifestyles.

Once saved can mean forever saved–if one continues in faith, growing in sanctification and holiness day by day. But God will not arbitrarily usurp mankind's free will. Our sovereign God does not overrule free will just to prove He is sovereign. [emphasis added] ...

At the beginning of the preceding quote, Assemblies of God attempt to use Luke 8:13 to prove that salvation can be lost. That is false teaching! Luke 8:13, “They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.” You must keep in mind that the goal of this parable of the Sower and the Seed is to become a soul-winner, bearing much fruit. Luke 8:5-8 gives the parable, and in verses 9-15 the Lord explains what it means. The “seed” is the Word of God. The “sower” is a soul-winning Christian preaching the Gospel. In Luke 8:13 the Bible doesn't say that those who fell away lost their salvation; but rather, they fell away from a life of perfection, growing to the place that they bear much fruit as God's intends for every born-again believer. Luke 8:15, “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”

Notice what Assemblies of God teach. ...

The preceding quote is Satanic teaching! God's free gift of eternal life is not conditional upon our continued obedient faith, sanctification (being set apart unto God from sin and the world) and holiness (attempting moral perfection). These are all human effort. The Devil is a master counterfeiter and deceiver. The Assemblies of God religion seems so right in most aspects, but it is a delicious red apple full of worms. The Devil is a beautiful liar!!!
 

'Assemblies of God' Faulty Thinking On Salvation

The following quote from the official Assemblies of God website is really bad theology. ...

The Holy Bible does not excuse sinful lifestyles by teaching the eternal security of the believer. That's what The Judgment Seat of Christ is all about (2nd Corinthians 5:9-11). If backslidden Christians lost their salvation, then there wouldn't be any need for The Judgment Seat of Christ. This is in sharp contrast to The Great White Throne of Judgment for the unsaved throughout history, who are already damned (Revelation 20:11-15; John 3:18). The truth is that even backslidden, worldly, wildly sinful believers could still be saved. Biblical evidence in found in 1st Corinthians 3:15, “If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” Assemblies of God are woefully ignorant of the Holy Scriptures.

I agree with Dr. John R. Rice that the only way to determine if someone is really saved is by the direct testimony from their mouth. Now if the Assemblies of God are correct that salvation can be lost, then this man ought not have been permitted into Heaven. This worldly man's entire life's work was bad, in vain and wasted. The man lived a shameful, selfish, wasted life, while building with wood, hay and stubble upon the foundation of Jesus Christ (salvation). Since his foundation is Christ, the man is eternally safe and secure from all alarm in the everlasting Father's hands (Deuteronomy 33:27). You cannot lay another foundation over Jesus Christ, Who is the only foundation which can be laid (1st Corinthians 3:11). Building one's salvation upon the sacraments of the church is a house of cards built upon the sand. You'd better put all your faith in Christ alone, Who as a slain Lamb died on the cross for your sins and mine, and raised up the third day to ascend into Heaven as our intercessory High Priest (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 4:15-16).

Also, consider 1st Corinthians 5:5, “To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” This verse doesn't mean to give someone to Satan to kill; but rather, it means sometimes people have to learn the hard way (and of course, that could lead to their premature death). Remember, a man's faith is counted for righteousness (Romans 4:5-6; Romans 10:3-4; Philippians 3:9; Genesis 15:6). I don't care if it harelips every dog in the county, the Bible plainly teaches in Romans 4:5-6, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.”

Many flawed Bible teachers will read these verses in Romans 4:5-6, and then totally negate it by mandating a changed and holy life as validation of a man's faith. The apostle James in 2:18-21 speaks of the FRUIT of a man's faith, being seen in the eyes of men, not God. The apostle Paul speaks of the ROOT of a believer's faith in Romans 4:5-6. The Bible teaches that a saved man ought to bring forth the fruit of God's righteousness in his life, because he has the Holy Spirit indwelling him; however, this does not necessarily mean that there aren't worldly believers who havechosen not to follow Christ, not to serve Him faithfully. In fact, most believers are in this rebellious group. Demas forsook Paul, having loved this present world (2nd Timothy 4:10). Philemon 1:24 indicates that Demas was saved, a fellow-labourer of the apostle Paul a few years before he backslid into the heathen world. Like it or not you hypocrites, Demas was saved and worldly. Heretics like Evangelist Paul Washer teach that there is no such thing as a carnal Christian. Washer is wrong, read 1st Corinthians 3:1.

The same is true of Lot, Abraham's troublesome nephew (2nd Peter 2:7-8). Lot chose to lived in Sodom. Two of Lot's daughters perished in Sodom with his son-in-laws. Lot's wife disobeyed God by looking back to Sodom's destruction and was turned into a pillar of salt. Lot's other two daughters got their father drunk (with alcohol they brought out of Sodom), and were impregnated by their own father. WHAT A MESS! The Bible tells us that this was a righteous man in 2nd Peter 2:7-8. Unshackled may not agree with God, but the Bible teaches that eternal life is a gift, obtainable without forsaking drunkenness, adultery and stealing.

You say, what about the Scriptures that say fornicators and drunks cannot enter into Heaven? ...

1st Corinthians 6:9-11, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

Notice in verse 11 the phrase, “BUT YE ARE WASHED”!!! If you have placed your faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you are washed and cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus!!! You have been JUSTIFIED, just-if-I'd never sinned!!! This speaks concerning God's imputed righteousness in Christ Jesus which is through faith alone. Once you've made the choice to trust Christ, then you have to make another choice as a believer whether or not you are going to “present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” (Romans 12:1). 

Just because many believers DON'T choose to serve God, DON'T depart from sinful living and DON'T consecrate their life to let God live a holy life through them, DOESN'T mean that they have never received the free gift of eternal life. It DOES mean that they are either immature in Christ or backslidden into the world. Likely, the Christian who led them to the Lord failed to mentor them, teaching them the things of Christ as The Great Commission teaches us to do (Matthew 28:19-20). We need to stop tampering with the plan of salvation and blaming sinners and start blaming ourselves as the Church for not mentoring new converts.


No Born-Again Christian Believer Can Ever Be Unborn

There are two words that adherents of works salvation, human effort to be saved and Lordship Salvation don't understand, and these words are: gift and imputation. What part of a “gift” don't they understand? A gift is a gift; it is free, it costs the recipient nothing or else it cannot truly be a gift. Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Thus, salvation is received and not achieved. Eternal life is TAKE proposition, not a GIVE proposition. God freely offers the gift of eternal life through faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we simply take it. That's it! Anything beyond that is solely a matter of discipleship and not salvation. Following Christ requires paying a high price (the world and open sinful living), but salvation is completely free. We receive rewards from God for discipleship, but eternal life was paid for entirely by God.

If you understand the theological doctrine of the IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD, then you know that salvation cannot be lost. Can a child physically born into the world go back into his mother's womb and be unborn? Absolutely not, it is impossible. A child can be murdered by abortion, or abandoned to the state, but no human being conceived in the womb can be unconceived!!! And by the way, a child is a human being at conception, not birth. I found a shameful YouTube video where Dr. Peter Ruckman actually teaches that abortion is not murder, because a child is not considered human life until the first breath is taken. That is insane!!! In Jeremiah 1:5, God said he knew Jeremiah and ordained him to be a prophet unto the nations before he was even conceived in the womb. Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Dr. Ruckman is very wrong! Abortion is cold-blooded murder!!!

Notice that God knew Jeremiah before he was even conceived. This is much like predestination. God didn't choose Jeremiah to be born; but rather, he knew him before the Lord formed him. Likewise, God doesn't choose who will or won't be saved; but rather, He knows us and has a planned life for us before we ever get saved. We are not predestined to salvation, but to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29).

Assemblies of God are a dangerous false religion, because they come 99% close on salvation, but close is not enough. Jesus warned, YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN (John 3:3). May I say, rat poison is only 1% poison; the other 99% of harmless good smelling and tasting food (otherwise the rats wouldn't eat it). Likewise, Satan knows that people wouldn't be suckered by false religion unless it appeared, felt and seemed to do everything right. I tell you, the Devil is in the works! In Pentecostal churches, you are required to maintain a life of holiness and separated living to STAY SAVED. There is no eternal security to the Pentecostal UNLESS YOU LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE!!! That is demonic evil doctrine. That is a doctrine of devils!!! That is not the Biblical Gospel, nor can such foolish ideas produce the new birth by the Holy Spirit of God (John 1:12-14).

If saved, always saved! This Biblical truth in no way excuses sinful living. Hebrews 12:6-8 teaches that God the Father chastises (disciplines) and scourges (whips) His children. There is no mention of disowning them. The new birth in Christ is a one-time supernatural miracle of God in response to a man's faith in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Heresy is creeping into our churches by the hour! Please don't confuse discipleship with salvation.
 

False Prophet Pentecostal Pastor Paul A. Baggett

One of the most famous Pentecostal preachers was Paul A. Baggett (known as “The Happy Pastor”) in Goodlettsville, Tennessee (he died in 2014). Search the church's website and you won't find the plan of salvation. Mr. Baggett pastored the Living-To-Go Church in Goodlettsville, Tennessee up until his death. They are admittedly very interdenominational, which means they are extremely ecumenical (uniting by error instead of dividing over truth). If you don't see the dangers and threat of ecumenism, it is only because you don't understand how the Devil works to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10).

Because of apostate Billy Graham's influence over the past half-century upon evangelical churches, his Billy Graham Evangelistic Outreach, dozens of ecumenical books and his Christianity Today magazine, Mr. Graham has effectively silenced the churches concerning the Satanic cult of Roman Catholicism. Instead of exposing and preaching against the lies of Catholicism, most evangelical churches today dare not even mention the name Catholic in the pulpit. And by the way, it'll be a cold day in Hell before a pulpit committee ever tells me what I can or cannot preach!!!!!!! Churches with pulpit committees are unbiblical and inevitably headed for total apostasy. A pastor who is not a preacher has no business being in any pulpit. GET RIGHT WITH GOD!!!

Unfortunately it gets much worse for any hopes of Chet Atkins being in Heaven. I researched what church Paul Baggett pastored (he died in 2014). Kindly, what a whacko! Baggett was a Pentecostal, fake healing, people-falling-down, foaming-at-the-mouth, Charismatic, false prophet! At Baggett's funeral, it was claimed that Baggett raised the dead. PASTOR PAUL BAGGETT RAISED THREE DEAD PEOPLE??? Blasphemy! My friend, that is demonism. In the same funeral video, it is alleged that Paul Baggett led famous guitar player Chet Atkins to the Lord. How can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit? Chet Atkins DID NOT get saved if Pastor Baggett taught him that holy living is required for salvation. These people are not saved!!! A false Gospel cannot produce the new birth.

At Pastor Paul Baggett's funeral service, his son taught the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation. ...

“I'm here to tell you today, that the one thing that pastor Paul would want you to know, is that if you're ever going to see him again, then you gotta make Jesus the Lord of your life.”

That is unbiblical. You only need to receive Jesus as your Savior, as taught in John 1:12. You don't make Jesus Lord, HE IS LORD! Submitting to Christ's Lordship is a matter solely of discipleship, and not Sonship (salvation). If we have to make Jesus Lord to be saved, then human effort is necessary for salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches that eternal life is the gift of God, without works.

The Charismatic religious mess is straight from the depths of darkness. Shyster televangelist Benny Hinn (who bilks people out of $100,000,000 a year through his fraudulent ministry) is a kingpin in the ungodly Assemblies of God denomination. These are imposters!!! They are not genuine Christians! Satan's greatest weapon is to con people into living the Christian life without ever being born-again. This is Assemblies of God! They have zeal. They have passion. They are sincere. Unfortunately, they have corrupted the simplicity that is in Christ by adding human effort to the grace of God for salvation.

There are many different types of Pentecostals, but they all share a common belief that salvation can be lost from unholy living. My friend, how can you lose that which was not yours to give in the first place? Eternal life is a free gift (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9), which cannot be merited, earned or ever lost. Chet Atkins spent his life musically backing the most reprobate, wicked and Godless immoral singers on earth. I'm talking pot-smoking Willie Nelson (have you seen Willie's homosexual cowboy song?). I'm talking “The Best Little Whore House In Texas” superstar whore, Dolly Parton. I won't mention all the adulterous singers, but the list would be gigantic! Nashville and Hollywood are wicked sisters of Las Vegas. Every famous Nashville singer and Hollywood actor eventually makes their shameful way to perform for the Sodomites in “SIN CITY” Las Vegas!!!
 

If Pastor Baggett Led Chet Atkins to Christ, Mr. Atkins Went to Hell

I often research online to find information about famous people to see if they are a born-again Christian. I was sad to read about guitar player Chet Atkins (1924-2001), who himself said at age 70 that he didn't know what entity created him. The following words spoken by a friend of Chet at his funeral do not indicate a born-again child of God...

Chet was curious and thoughtful about religion, though he was dubious about shysters and TV evangelist. He said, "I am seventy and still don't know anything about life, what universal entity designed the body I live in or what will come after I am gone. I figure there will be eternity and nothing much else. Like pulling a finger out of water. If it as the Baptists claim, I think I would tire of streets of gold and would want to see brick houses. I believe that when I die I'll probably go to Minnesota. The last time I was up there, it was freezing and I remember smiling and my upper lip went up and didn't come back down."

Only God and Mr. Atkins know if he died in his sins without Christ as His personal Savior, or if he died in the Lord with faith. Time will tell. Chet Atkins assumed that there would be eternity and not much else. That is far from true. There is a literal burning Hell, with fire and brimstone, where people are tortured by God's vengeance for all eternity in misery and torment, where there is “no rest day nor night” (Revelation 14:11). I hope Chet Atkins went to Heaven, which he clearly was confused about, but I doubt it. There is also a literal place called Heaven, where the gates are always open without fear of theft, and there is no night there to fear what lurks in the dark (Revelation 21:25). Yes, Heaven is where I desire to spend eternity with Jesus!

Tragically, Chet Atkins, like most worldly entertainers, was too preoccupied playing guitar, dazzling the crowds with his talent, and he never took the time to seek out the truth of the Scriptures. Atkins despised religion and shyster preachers, as most of us do. God certainly would not fault him for that. Unfortunately, fame and wealth always deter men from coming to Jesus Christ. That's why the Bible says God hath chosen the poor rich in faith (James 2:5). We learn in the following Scripture why rich people don't want Jesus, that is, because they are highminded and trust in their riches, instead of God. 1st Timothy 6:17, “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.”

I found one very questionable comment at Answers.com that claims a pastor named Paul Baggett led Chet Atkins to Christ (I'll get to that more in a moment), but I am leery of vague claims that were never substantiated by the celebrity them self. Anybody can say anything. Furthermore, there's a lot of 1,2,3 follow-me type fake conversions in our churches today. That's not to say that salvation is difficult. Certainly, any person who acknowledges their guilt of sin in the eyes of a holy God, and receives Christ's payment on the cross as full-payment for their sins, believing that Jesus bodily raised up from the dead the third day, is immediately, eternally and irrevocably saved!!! All I'm saying is that I've met too many people who think they are saved merely because they prayed a sinner's prayer, or have a relationship with Jesus, or invited Jesus into their heart... NONE OF WHICH are the Gospel message as taught in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4). See, What Is The Gospel? (by Dr. Harry Ironside).

Honestly, Paul Baggett sounds like a wild Tasmanian Devil!  I have always been alarmed when I hear preachers sound like their putting on a show, foaming-at-the-mouth, growing and grunting while they so-called “preach.” I love Billy Sunday's preaching, but what Baggett does is silly and unbecoming of a man of God. Watch him preach on YouTube and you'll see. It's a mockery of the things of God in my opinion. You've got some really weird people in the Appalachian hills, as well as some of the best Christians you'll ever meet (usually not the same people). I've also known people who were driven away from Christ because of snake-handling, superstitious, tongues speaking, heathen, so-called “churches.”

The entire Country music industry is all about drunkenness, adultery, divorce, whoredom, whoremongering, feminism and living in unrepentant sin. Hell will be hot! And if some of the Nashville reprobates manage to find the narrow path which leadeth unto life by faith in Christ Jesus, they will “be saved; yet so as by fire” (1st Corinthians 3:15). God doesn't reward musicians and singers who glorify wickedness!!!

Here's some of the adulterous lyrics from famous songwriter and singer Ricky Skaggs, who recorded the 1983 hit song, “You've Got A Lover.” This ungodly song was written by Shake Russell and recorded by Mr. Skaggs. This horrible and shameful song is all about fornication, having sex with multiple partners as a lifestyle. ...

The clubs are all closed and there's no where to go
When the sun wont show for hours
The streets have all emptied and lovers lay sleeping
And dreaming of each other.

You've got a lover but it's not me.
He can't love you like I can
There will be others yes I understand

There's acres and acres of heartbroken lovers

The lyrics are about an adulterous fornicator who wants sex, but the nightclubs are all closed. So he finds a whore (another fornicator), and attempts to convince her that he's a better fornicator than the fornicator she is already with. Skaggs sings “I know we're not the first ones [fornicators]”! Skaggs sings, “There will be others [fornicators] yes I understand.” What a hellhole we've become in America!!!

When asked by a photographer in November of 2014 if Ricky Skaggs thinks gay Country singers will be accepted into the community, Skaggs replied, I hope so, we're all sinners!” What Ricky Skaggs really meant was, “We're all unrepentant sinners!!!” Just because we're all sinners doesn't mean that we ought to accept homosexuals into the community as normal, everyday, harmless, people. Prior to 1973, homosexuality was listed as a mental disorder in America's psychological text books. The homosexual deviate lifestyle has been proven medically, spiritually, psychologically, physiologically, socially, personally and in the family, to be devastating and destructive to the normal growth of a child. Homosexuals are predators, evidenced by their quiet infiltration and overthrow of every institution in industry, law, media and departments of government—all in an effort to gain access to children. It is tragic to hear Ricky Skaggs saying that he HOPES sodomites will be accepted into the community. No wonder Jesus said that NO MAN can serve God and mammon (wealth). If Mr. Skaggs was poor and had nothing to lose, I doubt if he would support the queers.

Hell will be filled with unrepentant homosexuals. It's not that God won't save a person unless they forsake homosexuality (because that is not true); but rather, unrepentant homosexuals WON'T come to Jesus Christ to be saved, “lest their deeds should be reproved” (John 3:20). So, literally, the love for their sins will send them to the Lake of Fire forever. Many gays are joining apostate fake churches (like the Living-To-Go Church), who accept them as unrepentant queers, thus damning them further to Hell by not showing them the awfulness of their sin and guilty condition. No homosexual who defends their sodomy can be saved until they admit... “I AM A GUILTY SINNER IN GOD'S HOLY EYES!” We are unholy, but God is holy. We are undeserving, but God is worthy of all honor, praise and glory! Anyone who defends same-sex marriage is of the Devil.

Get mad at me if you want to, but living a holy life and being sanctified (set apart unto God from all else) are not requirements to be or remain saved. This is what Pentecostals teach and believe. It is a works-based form of salvation rooted in human effort. Close is not good enough when it comes to the plan of salvation. There is only one Gospel. Assemblies of God, like unsaved Roman Catholics, believe that Christ died on the cross, was buried, and resurrected three days later; yet they are all going straight to Hell for adding to the Gospel, thus corrupting it. Catholics trust in the Seven Sacraments of the church. That is a false plan of salvation. We see this error in Acts 15:1. These are all manmade doctrines (Mark 7:9-13). Mormons, Jehovah's Witness and Seventh-Day Adventists all require turning away from a lifestyle of sin to be saved.
 

Salvation is a New Birth by God's Spirit, Not a Lifestyle to Be Lived

Obviously, no one can be saved through a false way. Salvation only comes to the person who completely rests in the finished work of Christ (Hebrews 4:10-11). Our churches are filled with all types of false plans of salvation today. When you hear Evangelist Paul Washer saying that you cannot merely trust Christ and write the date you were saved in a Bible, run away! The new birth in Christ Jesus by the Spirit of God is instantaneous, immediate and permanent. Mr. Washer is a Calvinist who believes that in order to be saved, one's entire lifestyle must fit into the equation. Washer teaches that no one can trust Jesus until they've been born-again.

If Paul Baggett taught Chet Atkins that holy and sanctified living are required for salvation, then Chet Atkins didn't get saved at all. To say that a person must be born-again, but then they could be unborn by unrepentant sin is absurd. Salvation is strictly a matter of “believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly,” so that a man's “faith is counted for righteousness.” That means a man doesn't need any self-righteousness to be saved, and no amount of unrighteousness can take away his salvation. All these religious fools who think they're pleasing God by corrupting the plan of salvation to force people to live holy are NOT SAVED!!! I'm not saying dogmatically that Chet Atkins went to Hell, but it seems very clear to me that Paul Baggett sadly did!!! And if Chet was clearly unsaved at age 70, and Paul Baggett is a false prophet, then it surely seems that Chet Atkins also went to Hell in his sins without Jesus Christ. The Gospel excludes all forms of self-righteousness, and that definitely includes holy living. Holy living is entirely a matter of lordship (discipleship), and not sonship (salvation). We are saved by trusting, not trying to get to Heaven.

Romans 4:5-6, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.” Did you read that? ... WITHOUT WORKS!!! If I give you a gift and then tell you I expect you to treat me nice from now on, or else I'll take it back, would that be a gift? Absolutely NOT!!! That is exactly how foolish, absurd and unbiblical it is for Assemblies of God to teach the same thing concerning God's gift of eternal life.
 

We are Saved Solely by the Imputed Righteousness of God

May I say, the new birth by the Holy Spirit of God is irreversible and permanent. If you don't believe that, then you are woefully ignorant of what it means to be saved. The imputed righteousness of God is a gift, and it does not require a life of good performance. Ironically, Pentecostals teach that we are saved by God's grace and not our own goodness, while at the same time they teach that you can lose your salvation if you go into sin. Clearly, Pentecostals have been deceived by the Devil, adopting a fork-tongued plan of salvation. Salvation is either by GRACE or WORKS, but it cannot be BOTH. Romans 11:6, “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”

Also, Assemblies of God shame the name of Jesus by their bizarre and erratic behavior when they speak-in-tongues (a demonic practice), and put their hands on each other, barking like dogs, falling and rolling on the floor, and other insane behavior in their alleged healing services. Here's a brief clip from the funeral video of Paul Baggett, showing some of their weird religion. Why doesn't anyone call this what it is... a cult?! There's no doubt that Pastor Paul's congregation loved him because he accepted them as they were, but that doesn't automatically make him a man of God. You won't find a group more sincere than Seventh-Day Adventists, but they are hellbound in Satanic heresy and unbelief. SDA's deny a literal burning Hell.

My problem as a caring born-again Christian is with the Assemblies of God false teaching that holy living, perseverance in faith, and sanctification are required to remain saved. May I say, salvation is NOT a state that you enter into and maintain, which can change if our performance falls short at some point in our Christian life. You need to grasp the Biblical truth that being born-again is a new birth (a spiritual, second birth). The very moment that a person acknowledges their sinnership and places their faith in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, God's righteousness is IMPUTED (attributed) to them (Romans 4:5-6; 2nd Corinthians 5:21; Romans 10:3-4; Philippians 3:9).

If you don't get anything else from this article, which I've prayed for the Lord to help me write, remember that salvation cannot be lost, for any reason. You don't get saved by giving up the bad things in your life, nor do you lose salvation because you continue to do bad things. I am not saved because I am good; but rather, because GOD IS GOOD!!! There are numerous Biblical truths that plainly explain and clear-up the matter. John 3:20 teaches that unrepentant sinners avoid the light (the Word of God). Jesus Christ is the living Word of God (John 1:1-3,14; Revelation 19:13). Unrepentant sinners WON'T come to Christ to be saved.

Ah, but when there is sweet repentance (a change of mind), then a person is compelled to receive the forgiving Savior. No one has ever sincerely come to Jesus who didn't repent, because unrepentant sinners WON'T come. John 5:40, “And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” Repentance is NOT a change of lifestyle, that is reformation. Repentance is seeing yourself as a guilty sinner in the eyes of a holy God for breaking His commandments (Romans 3:19). Please read, Repentance And Faith to learn more. END
