Satan's Favorite Deception Is The 'HALF-TRUTH'

By David J. Stewart | August 2015 | Updated November 2015

Genesis 3:3-5, “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

Do you see the HALF-TRUTH in our text passage? Satan, disguised as a serpent, told even that she wouldn't die, but God warned her that she would! Clearly, Satan told a LIE here. But now notice the TRUTH. Satan told Eve that if she ate the forbidden fruit, she would become as a god, in the sense of having her “EYE” (singular in the Hebrew language) opened. HER EYE WOULD BE OPENED! Opened to what? Opened to the knowledge of GOOD and EVIL. This refers to the eye of the understanding, in the soul.
