Does An Old Earth View Corrupt The Gospel?

Genesis 3:1, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

       A popular claim by Evangelists Ken Ham and Kent Hovind, and other Young Earth Creation advocates, is that the concept of an Old Earth corrupts the Gospel. Fossils records have identified cancer, brain tumors and arthritis in the fossil remains of dinosaurs. So according to Young Earth apologists, since Adam's sin brought death and a curse upon the earth, the earth could not be very old. How could there be disease and death in dinosaurs if they lived 65,000,000 years ago, since it was Adam's sin according to Romans 5:12 that brought sin into the world, and the fall of creation? That is an excellent question.

However, I can irrefutably PROVE to you dear reader that sin existed before man. Consider in our text Bible passage from Genesis 3:1 that the serpent sinned BEFORE Eve. The serpent questioned the Word of God, which is a horrible sin! Furthermore, the serpent sinned again in verse 3 when he changed and corrupted the Word of God. Genesis 2:16-17, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” God told Adam and Eve that they could FREELY EAT OF EVERY TREE, except one, the fruit from the tree of knowledge! What did the serpent change? Genesis 3:3b, “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Wow! The serpent (Satan according to Revelation 20:2) said the EXACT OPPOSITE of what God had told Adam and Eve! Satan released the first perverted Bible version.

So we see at least TWO sins committed by the serpent. There is no sin any greater than corrupting the inspired Word of God! Are you listening Biblica, with your corrupt New International Version (NIV)? Are you listening Bob Jones University, with your corrupt English Standard Version (ESV) that you sell and promote? Are you listening Westcott and Hort from Hell beneath, with your 1881 corrupt Greek New Testament (upon which nearly all modern perversions are based)? The serpent misquoted the incorruptible Word of God! This conclusively PROVES that sin existed before mankind. The truth that I just shared with you has massive and far reaching doctrinal implications! SIN DID EXIST BEFORE THE HUMAN RACE!!!
 

Biblically, There Was Sin Before Man

You cannot argue with THE TRUTH. The serpent sinned before any human being ever sinned. Some Young Earth adherents no doubt would claim that Lucifer rebelled and fell within the 6-days of Creation, but I think that is ludicrous. What saith the Scripture? Well, it doesn't! We don't know the timing, that is, WHEN, Lucifer fell from his lofty position in Heaven. I think it is WRONG for Ken Ham to jump to erroneous conclusions that are ridiculous, like claiming that 700 species of identified and named dinosaurs were all preserved by Noah merely taking TWO dinosaurs aboard the ark. That is exactly what Ken Ham's teaches in his Ark Encounter, which in my humble opinion is nothing more than a science-fiction freak show! How can just 2 dinosaurs preserve 700 different species? Are you gullible and ignorant enough, or sinful enough, to foolishly discard science, common sense and the Scriptures? There is not one mention of dinosaurs in the Word of God. Not even one! The “behemoth” mentioned in the book of Job is plural in Hebrew, which any reasonable theologian would conclude to be a herd of elephants or hippos, or perhaps rhinoceros.

Since the Scriptures do not directly tell us when Lucifer fell, and since Satan was already present in the Garden of Eden, it seems logical to conclude an Old Earth. By Old Earth I mean a prehistoric world, long before the human race was ever created by God. Why is this hypothesis so hard to accept? I still believe in a literal 6-day creation, in which God REMODELED the earth. We read in 2nd Peter 3:12, “Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” Many Bible students foolishly conclude that the earth will one day melt. The proper way to interpret the Holy Scriptures is to compare Scripture with Scripture.

We are taught repeatedly in the book of Psalms that God has established the earth FOREVER. Psalms 104:1 and 5, “Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. ...Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.” So if we consider the whole of God's Word, we can conclude that God is going to RENOVATE the earth after the 1,000 year Millennium, purging the earth of the stain of man's wickedness. Every rock, pop, country and Gospel music album ever recorded will be burned up! Every music recording ever made will be burned up. Every Hollywood movie ever produced will be burned up. Every work of mankind will be burned up, wiped out of existed forever!!! With this great truth in mind dear reader, oh how it should impress upon our heart the importance of living RIGHT NOW for the things of God, which at the end of life will be the ONLY THING that really matters. Most importantly, have you been born-again? You cannot go to Heaven unless you have been born anew by the Holy Spirit of God, which is only through faith alone in the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ!!!
 

The Serpent's Pre-Adamic Sin Strongly Indicates An Old Earth

If you think about it, this actually hints VERY STRONGLY to an Old Earth! If, as Young Earth Creationists claim, there was no prehistoric world before the 6-days of Creation, then where did sin come from? I don't think there would be much theological debate where Satan came from. The Scriptures teach in Ezekiel 28:13-15 that Lucifer was close to the throne of God, but he was lifted up in pride and fell. Lucifer the archangel became Satan the accuser! Ezekiel 28:15, “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.”

Also, it is accepted theology that Lucifer drew one-third of the angels with him, in rebellion against God. So God cast them out of Heaven, and down to the earth. Revelation 12:1-6, “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up [Christ's bodily resurrection] unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.”

The woman is Israel. The twelve stars on the crown are the 12 tribes of Israel. The child is Jesus Christ. The Dragon is Satan, who tried to devour the child. This was when demon-inspired Herod murdered thousands of children, trying to kill Jesus. The “stars” are angels. We read about the 7 stars (or angels) in Revelation 1:20. When were one-third of the angels cast down? Since it is obvious in the Scriptures that demons are already here on earth, it must have already happened. It is clear that the child is Jesus Christ, Who will rule all nations during the Millennium with a rod of iron. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

In the preceding Scripture passage from Revelation 12:1-6, we are given a snapshot of entire Bible history. We also read about the Great Tribulation, the last 3 1/2 years of the Tribulation period, when Israel will flee into the mountains to seek safety. I consulted Elliot's Commentary For English Readers, The Pulpit Commentary, and Matthew Henry's Commentary, which all identify the “woman” In Revelation 12:1-6 as “the Church.” I humbly disagree! God gave the world the Savior (the child) through Israel, the Jews. Galatians 3:16, “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” Romans 9:4, “Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises.” The Law and the true Messiah came through Israel to the world.

Interestingly, the false messiah (The Antichrist) will also come to the world through Israel (2nd Thessalonians 2:4; Daniel 11:38), counterfeit Israel since 1948. Satan always counterfeits the things of God. The churches are being flooded with counterfeit Bibles. Present-day Israel is a counterfeit, awaiting their counterfeit messiah, the Antichrist! The New World Order is a counterfeit of Christ's rule over the world during the Millennium.

Pastor Steven Anderson does a wonderful job exegeting the Scriptures on the subject of Israel. The sermon is called “FREE PALESTINE!” I agree 100%!!! I really enjoyed listening to this sermon and highly recommend it to everyone. Brother Anderson gives a great history lessons covering World Wars I and II and how it all relates to Israel. Pastor Anderson is right, “True freedom is being saved!” The important matter is THE GOSPEL. BOTH the Arabs and the Jews need Jesus Christ!!! Israel is nothing! Jesus is everything!!! Beware of all the Zionist idolatry in today's churches, uplifting the Jews and Israel. Folks, it's all about Jesus, not the Jews or Israel.
 

Belief in An Old Earth Doesn't Corrupt the Gospel

The claim by Dr. Kent Hovind, Evangelist Ken Ham, and other Young Earth advocates, that an Old Earth view corrupts the Gospel, is simply untrue! As I have shown you, sin existed before man. Adam's sin opened the floodgate of sin into the human race, and God cursed the ground for man's sake. We live in a fallen world because of sin. I do not claim to have all the answers. Only God is omniscient! But I do use the mind that God gave to me to think. It is obvious that dinosaurs never co-existed with mankind. Certainly, Noah didn't bring Tyrannosaurus rex's aboard the ark. Nor did he bring towering Brontosauruses. Nor did he bring Triceratops onto the ark. There were no Velociraptor dinosaurs on the ark! Nor did Noah bring flying Pterodactyls aboard. The flood rose above the highest mountain, which is Mount Everest at nearly 30,000 feet. It is insane for anyone to even claim that Noah took dinosaurs aboard the ark.

When I flew to Los Angeles in 2009 for my first unsuccessful neck surgery, I took the opportunity to visit the famous Labrea Tar Pits in downtown Los Angeles, which was very interesting. I still have the key chain that I bought in their souvenir shop, with a cool Saber-tooth Tiger on it. In my ignorance I went in the front door and asked where to see the dinosaurs and they laughed at me. The reason why is because there are NO DINOSAURS there! The Labrea Tar Pits features information on 6,000 prehistoric animals. I did see the amazing skeletal remains of a Saber-tooth Tiger and a Woolly Mammal. Don't tell me that Noah brought all of these amazing creatures onto the ark, just so they could ALL die off and become extinct after the flood. That is as retarded as it is totally untrue. I am frustrated with naive and gullible churches today who buy into the science-fiction of Ken Ham, Henry Morris III, and other liars, because they aren't using the brain that God gave to them.

The Gospel is the Good News of Jesus Christ crucified on the cross, buried and bodily risen three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-6). The bogus claim by Ken Ham and others that an Old Earth view corrupts the Gospel is a cheap shot, a dirty and dishonest tactic that they use to bolster their speculative theory of a Young Earth. Since they don't have any real evidence of a Young Earth, they are desperate to justify their erroneous claims. So they resort to unscientific assertions, that gullible churches and foolish Bible colleges embrace. The scam has worked so well that Ken Ham's Answers-In-Genesis has taken in $100,000,000 in revenues over the past 5 years alone. That is disgusting!!! I calculated that is the equivalent to the entire annual income for 222 average sized churches!!! Theological crime pays much better than legislative crime! We must all appear at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2nd Corinthians 5:10-11).

Sin did exist prior to the human race and the fall of man, seen in Genesis 3:1, so Ken Ham doesn't know what he is talking about. Like other false prophets, he is grasping at straws, as a desperate con man looking for ways to continue exploiting Christianity to make filthy lucre! Christianity is not about making money and selling things to become rich! If we take away the bogus claim of dinosaurs being taken on the ark, and cancel their false accusation that an Old Earth view corrupts the Gospel, and we remove all their speculative nonsense, adherents of a Young Earth Creation really don't have any credible evidence at all, except that they can quote Genesis chapter one by itself and totally IGNORE the whole of Scripture, which is foolish!
 

Further Evidence of An Old Earth

Job 38:4, “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.” I find it interesting that the Bible refers to God LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS of the earth. It would almost seem that this was a separate event from the 6-days of Creation, when I believe God remodeled His creation. The Bible doesn't say that God created dry land; but rather, He made it APPEAR. Genesis 1:9, “And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.” So it would seem logical to me that the land was already there! This agrees with the teaching in Psalms that God LAID THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH.

There is a big difference between appear and create! I wouldn't argue the point my friend. If you believe in a Young Earth, I am fine with that. I don't agree with it, but I respect the right for people to have their own opinions. One of my favorite preachers, Pastor Steven Anderson, believes and teaches a Young Earth. That is fine, it doesn't change my opinion of him. What I have a problem with is when Young Earthers make blatantly false arguments in a desperate attempt to support their Young Earth theory. That is why I wrote this particular article, exposing the lie that sin didn't exist before mankind. As I have shown you from Genesis 3:1, the serpent sinned BEFORE Eve or Adam! So THERE WAS SIN PRIOR TO MAN!!!

You need to understand that much of so-called “science” today is false. The Holy Bible warns about “oppositions of science falsely so called” (1st Timothy 6:20). I've been doing research about dinosaurs having cancer, brain tumors and arthritis, after hearing Ken Ham mention this. The truth is that scientists simply DON'T KNOW what happened to the dinosaurs, and there is much ongoing debate over how they died and became extinct. If you are a thinking person, you have to admit that it is absurd to believe that 700 species of identified and named dinosaurs ALL BECAME EXTINCT during any time in human civilization. Ken Ham is such a false prophet!!! Clearly, dinosaurs NEVER coexisted with the human race. It just didn't happen! 6,000 total years of human civilization does not record anything about dinosaurs. Geological science evidences that dinosaurs lived 65,000,000 to 220,000,000 years ago. I have no problem with that! I do NOT believe in any type of evolution, but it is clear to me that dinosaurs lived at some prehistoric time period. This is common sense people! Since I also believe 100% that the Holy Bible is God's perfect, infallible and inspired Word, then I have to conclude that God remodeled Creation in the 6-days of Creation, but the earth's foundations were laid “OF OLD” as Psalms 102:25 says. This is why I believe in an Old Earth, aka, the Gap Principle. Here is an excellent book titled, “WITHOUT FORM AND VOID,” defending an Old Earth principle by Dr. Arthur C. Custance (1910-1985).

Psalms 102:25, “Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.” Again, the word “foundation” is being narrowed out, as if a separate event. We don't read anything in the 6-days of Creation about the earth's “foundation” being created. Clearly, it is in Genesis 1:1-2b, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.” Even the introductory phrase “in the beginning,” seems to indicate an earlier time than the succeeding Bible verse, followed by the chaotic words in verse 2, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.” In every case of all that God created in Genesis chapter one, the Bible says “IT WAS GOOD.” Yet in verse 2 we read something entirely different and contradictory! We read that the earth was “WITHOUT FORM” and “VOID.” Carefully notice that God didn't just see that His creation was “VERY GOOD” (Verse 31), but God saw each step of the way that everything He made was “GOOD” (Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25). We don't read anything in verse 2 about God being pleased with what He had made, because it was without form and void.

Hence, I believe that a cataclysmic event happened between verse 1 and 2, in which the dinosaurs were destroyed. We read a remarkable passage of Scripture in Jeremiah that parallels Genesis 1-2. Jeremiah 4:23-27, “I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger. For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.” When were the cities of the earth broken down by God in His fierce anger? When did the Heavens have no light? The fact that the earth being without form and void is mentioned clearly links this passage with Genesis 1:2.

In Bible study, there is something called the Principle of Double Fulfillment. In simple terms, it means that a particular passage of Scripture can have two intended valid applications. I believe that is the case here. Clearly, the context deals with Babylon in the time of the prophet Jeremiah. However, it is clear to me that this passage also refers back to Creation, proving us with further details. Pastor Curtis Hutson (1934-1995) teaches about this truth from Jeremiah 4:23-27 in his helpful Bible study series titled, “Demonology”...

The honest Bible student has to admit that the psalmist mentions God LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS of the earth, which David even calls “OF OLD.” I think that is very interesting. Ultimately, you have to form your own conclusions, as do we all. What saith the Scripture?
