Death Is Glorious For The Born Again Christian

By David J. Stewart | April 2019

Psalms 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”

Everyone has burdens, worries and problems in this earthly life; but the born again believer has something that the unsaved person does not, and that is hope in the promises of almighty God! Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” We “hope” because faith is trusting in something that we cannot know for certain. 1st Peter 1:7-8, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.” I love that passage of Scripture! The Bible acknowledges that we are placing our trust, our hope, in a Savior whom we have never seen!

The Holy Spirit is Our Blessed Comforter

Romans 8:9-10, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.” We see at least three beautiful outstanding truths in the preceding Scripture passage:

  1. No one is saved who doesn't have the indwelling Holy Spirit.
  2. The fleshly body because of sin must die, but the hold of sin upon the Christian ends at death; it cannot afflict him any further.
  3. The Holy Spirit gives the believer eternal life because of Christ's imputed righteousness; our real life is in the Spirit!

Romans 8:18, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” When I begin to worry about my present earthly problems, I am eventually reminded that my name is written in Heaven in the Lamb's Book of Life, and I have a new glorified body waiting for me, and a home prepared in Heaven by the Lord Himself. John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” I truly feel sorry for the unbelieving world, who have no hope of a better life! The Bible says that the death of a saint is precious to God. Psalms 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Do you know why? Surely it is because another one of God's redeemed children are coming home.

I am in a frustrating battle right now to keep my much needed pain medications. The U.S. government is cracking down nationwide right now on opioid drugs, because of tens of thousands of deadly overdoses in recent years. Unfortunately, I am being affected by this as well. I suffer continually in chronic neck pain, and radiating pain in my limbs. Something went wrong during my second neck surgery in 2010, that left me with continual burning throughout my nervous system, which makes coping from day to day extremely difficult for me. I cannot explain in words the horrible feeling. I began to worry recently, concerning my disability benefits, but then the Holy Spirit comforted me (which is one of His jobs) with the Scriptures. ...

John 14:16-18, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

God the Father and God the Son live inside (indwell) each and every saint in the form of the blessed Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 3:16-17). We all tend to worry about things, and that is normal, but it becomes a sin when we choose to dwell upon those worries instead of taking everything to the Lord in prayer. Philippians 4:6-7, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” All God asks is that we bring our worries to Him, and get Him involved. If we don't pray, God may not help us on purpose to teach us humility. James 4:6-7a, “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God...”

MEET THE HOLY SPIRIT (a wonderful book by Pastor Jack Hyles - Holy Spirit Our Comforter)

Every Saint Has a New Glorified Immortal Body Waiting for Them in Eternity

I was comforted today as I thought about how each day of this earthly life is a countdown to graduating from this life to the next. I heard Pastor Danny Castle make a great statement yesterday in a sermon. He said that a saint NEVER graduates from God's college during life. In other words, we will be learning until the day we go home to glory in Heaven! Do you realize dear reader, that if you are saved you already posses eternal life? Let me share with you one of my favorite passages of Scripture, from 2nd Corinthians 5:1-2, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle [our human body] were dissolved [killed], we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven.” Wow, that is such a great encouragement! The Scriptures tell us a little bit about our new body...

1st Corinthians 15:52-54, “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”

Our resurrected body will be CHANGED.

1st Corinthians 2:1-9, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

That sounds so wonderful! Carefully notice that the Holy Bible tells us God has prepared things for us—not only that the eye hath not seen, nor the ear hath heard—but also “NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN.” I have heard some preachers say that this Scripture passage refers to divine truths from God, but I think it refers to the unseen and incomprehendible splendors awaiting us in Heaven! The Bible says that the things God is preparing for us, are things that have never “entered into the heart of man.” Bible truths DO enter into man's heart, so the Scriptures cannot be referring to merely learning some nice truths. God is preparing for us things that will blow our mind!!! Jesus said in John 14:1-2, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” Isn't that a wonderful thought? Our blessed Savior is PREPARING wonderful things for us. I heard some idiot preacher say that there will be apartment complexes in Heaven. Are you serious? What person in their right mind wouldn't want to own their own home?

No Mortgages, No Money and No Taxes in Heaven

What next, taxes in Heaven? I was listening to the King James Bible yesterday and heard Jesus say something amazing in Matthew 17:25, “He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?Did you get that? The children of kings DON'T PAY TAXES!!! Jesus is teaching us that as God's children we WON'T be paying any taxes in Heaven. God is our heavenly Father, and do you think He is going to try to profit from us, by making us slaves, taxing us and making us work to build His Kingdom? Of course not! In Heaven we will have our own beautiful home, prepared by the Lord Himself, and there WON'T be any taxes or city inspections. I've heard some preachers unwisely criticize the idea that Jesus worked as a carpenter on earth, and that as a carpenter He is building us a home in Heaven. I'd be careful before I criticized that idea, for the Lord Himself comforted us with a promise that He is preparing a place for us in Heaven! Amen!

The Holy Bible tells us that the LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. So why would God want to have money in Heaven? You can rest assure dear believer that God will not allow money in Heaven. I hate money! I hate everything about money! I loath greedy people who live to make money. I saw a movie the other day where a group of people found an old chest filled with bars of gold. They were rejoicing together, so happy that they just found a bunch of gold. What saith the Scripture? 1st Peter 1:7, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” Wow! The Bible says that our problems (i.e., “THE TRIAL OF YOUR FAITH”) are more precious than GOLD THAT PERISHETH! Do you understand this Biblical truth? God is literally saying that the very problems—the frustrations, cares, burdens, worries and heartaches that patiently test our faith in God on a daily basis—are more valuable than gold (one of the most coveted and costly rare minerals on earth). Never underestimate God's will in your life!

Lighten Your Afflictions By Looking At Unseen Eternal Things

If you want to make your afflictions lighter, LOOK AT THE UNSEEN ETERNAL THINGS!!! What are some of these eternal things? Well, good night, Heaven for one! Bless God, I'm going to Heaven when I die. I can't wait with excitement. I'm gonna see my dear Savior for the first time when I die. I am now 52 years old, which means at most I might have another 20 or 30 years (but I hope I die much sooner). I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING MY BLESSED AND PRECIOUS REDEEMER!!!!!!! I'm going to see my saved loved ones.

I'm going to see my parents (who are both in Heaven). I'm going to see my Brother (Paul Solomon Stewart who died of a heart defect 2 weeks before his 3rd birthday in 1974). I'm going to see my little sister (who died at age 46 in Chicago of a drug overdose in 2016). I'm going to see Dr. and Mrs. Hyles, whom I miss dearly (who are both in Heaven). I'm going to see my grandmother (who died of Leukemia in 1977 when I was 10 years old. She was 77). I very much miss going to Yankee Doodle Dandee for delicious roast beef sandwiches with my grandmother.

One of my biggest requests to the Lord, according to His promise in Romans 8:32 to “freely give us all things,” is to eat again at Yankee Doodle Dandee with my grandmother in Heaven. The angels eat! Did you know that? When the two angels came to rescue Lot, he prepared “a feast” (Genesis 19:3) for them and they pigged out! That's good preaching! Jesus left this earth in a physical body (Acts 1:9-11), the same resurrected body in which He ate food with His disciples (Luke 24:43). The angels always appeared in a physical body in the Word of God, not as some ghostly spirit as seen in Hollywood movies. Heaven and its inhabitants are a physical place!

“Most trouble in the Christian life comes from trying to half way live it!” —Pastor Danny Castle, a truthful quote from the MP3 sermon, “The Generation That Doesn't Look Up! | MP3

Like Evangelist Charles Weigle, My Biggest Enemy in Life Has Been My Departed Wife

The famous evangelist, Charles Weigle (1871-1966), was also despondent when his wife abandoned him and left him alone, as did my wife in 2006. I was 39 years old then. Likewise, I have lived alone since, never remarrying. Like Charles Weigle, I contemplated plated suicide, especially when I underwent two major neck surgeries in 2009 and 2010, alone, with no one by my side in California. In grief I bought two small barbecues and two bags of charcoal, to commit suicide, but God's never-failing love and my ministry work sustained me.

As much as I regret being divorced, in hindsight my wife divorcing me is a big blessing, freeing me from her abuse and mistreatment. I tried to stop the divorce. My wife (aka, the plaintiff) officially refused to reconcile with me (the defendant), which I made the lawyers put in writing, so she could never sinfully come back and falsely accuse me of equally wanting the divorce (which she did lie about later on, to one of our adult children, and I read the divorce document to my daughter to prove that her mother lied to her). Thus, I have a completely clear conscience in the matter, although I am sad that I am divorced. God is good!

Proverbs 14:1, “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.” When my wife divorced me legally, she no longer had any part in me, nor my name, nor my ministry, nor in my heavenly rewards! I do not hate her, God forbid; but I know the pain, betrayal and broken heart of Charles Weigle, whose wife betrayed her marriage oath and forsook him too. I am the biggest sinner I know, and so are you in your own eyes, if you are right with God! The Holy Bible tells us, “in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves” (Philippians 2:3). I have no right to point fingers or condemn anyone, and I don't. Was Charles Weigle condemning his wife for telling the truth about her leaving him? Was he wrong to travel the world telling everyone that she left him high and dry? I think not. Was Pastor Jack Hyles wrong to tell the world that his father was a drunk who beat his wife, knocking her front teeth out? I think not. Brother Hyles was trying to help people, as was Dr. Weigle, as am I, by God's grace. All I am saying is that I know the pain, betrayal and loss that comes from being the victim of betrayal in a divorce. I lost everything!

If I can share my own calamity, grief and loneliness with other people, to help others LOOK UP TO GOD, then so be it. One of my favorite sermons by Pastor Danny Castle it titled, “THE GENERATION THAT DOESN'T LOOK UP!” (MP3). Sadly, a man's worst enemy is often his own wife, which was my situation. Proverbs 12:4, “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.” I cannot even put into words the inexplicable emotional trauma, the tremendous pain of soul from betrayal, and the overwhelming grief of loss, caused by the evils of divorce. You may THINK that you understand what a person is going through in a divorce, because you have seen someone go through a divorce, but I assure you that if you have never been the victim yourself of a divorce, you DO NOT know what it feels like!!! That is like saying you understand what it is like to fall down a flight of stairs in a wheelchair, because you saw it happen to someone. No you don't understand, not until it is your broken body with a wheelchair on top of your head! Showing somebody photos of Hawaii is not 100th the satisfying experience of actually visiting Hawaii in person!

“I wouldn't trade a good conscience for all the money in the world!” —Pastor Steven L. Anderson, an excerpt from the excellent sermon, “1st Peter 3: Sarah Obeying Abraham | MP3

In his utter grief, instead of committing suicide Charles Weigle in 1932 wrote a precious song called, “No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus.” My wife abandoned me in March of 2006. Instead of writing a song, I made a new soulwinning website for the Lord. If you check whois.com you can verify that I began my “Soulwinning.info” ministry in May of 2006. Romans 12:21, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Instead of committing suicide or allowing myself to be filled with bitterness, I focused all my attention on soulwinning, and started a whole new website all about winning souls to the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you know what my wife did next? She divorced me in June of 2006! So while she was leaving and divorcing me, I was winning souls! I can live with that. Amen!

I found this encouraging article about Evangelist Charles Weigle, and his wife sinfully abandoning him, with which I can fully relate...

Jesus is sufficient for our needs whatever age or stage we are in life. One of my favorite hymns of the Christian faith is "No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus." The composer, Charles Weigle, was born in 1871 in Lafayette, Indiana. As a young boy, he heard of God's love and asked Jesus to come into his heart. At the age of twelve he felt a definite call to preach. His life of ministry is descriptive of the scripture, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6).

However, during Weigle's early years of ministry he experienced a heartbreaking moment that he describes this way: "A mantel of grief covered me, but God's grace sustained me."

These sentiments are echoed by many great composers. Their music gives us renewed hope and an assurance that if tragedy comes, disciples of Jesus Christ can overcome.

Weigle was an evangelist who spent much time away from home conducting preaching missions. One day he returned to find a note from his wife that she had left him and taken their small daughter.

Historian Kenneth W. Osbeck, author of the book Amazing Grace, writes more about Weigle: "He became so despondent during the next several years that there were even times when he contemplated suicide. There was the terrible despair that no one really cared for him anymore. Gradually his spiritual faith was restored and he once again became active in the Christian ministry. Soon he felt compelled to write a song that would be a summary of his past tragic experience."

The first verse begins: "I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus, since I found in Him a friend so strong and true."

In our lives there are times when we feel all alone, whether it's due to a broken marriage, the betrayal of a good friend, the death of a loved one, a lonely childhood, or just the everyday trials of relationships at the workplace. This loneliness is a sure sign of a need for deepening one's faith in Jesus, who said, "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you" (John 14:18). [emphasis added]

My departed wife has caused me more grief, suffering and loss than all of my enemies combined in life. I am serving God alone, by myself, and my x-wife has no part in neither me nor my eternal rewards. In Heaven am going to meet the people whom I've led to the Lord, that is, those who make it to Heaven ahead of me. Praise God for His abundant goodness! Psalms 145:9, “The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.”

Heaven is a Wonderful Place!

2nd Corinthians 5:7-8, “For we walk by faith, not by sight: We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” As soon as we leave this earthly tabernacle, we are going to be present with the Lord. That is precious! Life is a vale of tears! Dr. Jack Hyles said that, and he is so right! Dear reader, whatever burdens, heartaches and frustrations you are dealing with right now in your life, pale in comparison to the wonderful blessings awaiting us in eternity. Although there will be varying degrees of rewards in Heaven (1st Corinthians 3:8-9), and varying degrees of shining for soulwinners (Daniel 12:3), and many tears will flow at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2nd Corinthians 5:9-11); I also do not believe there will be any miserable children of God in eternity. Heaven is a wonderful place!!!

We used to sing a precious song on the Church Bus every week, which went like this...

Heaven is a wonderful place,
Filled with glory and grace;
I want to see my Savior's face,
Heaven is a wonderful place!

(Alternate last line... Heaven is a wonderful, Heaven is a marvellous, Heaven is a wonderful place!)

Hear the song melody: https://youtu.be/p8Qd413W8l4?t=111 (NOTE: I think Seventh-Day Adventism is a Satanic cult, but these precious children sang this song correctly. All the other versions on YouTube sound like horrible rap music!)

Heaven is truly a wonderful place! Do you know how I KNOW? It is because Jesus is there! I want to see my Savior's face, Heaven is a wonderful place! Here are some awesome MP3 sermons about Heaven from my favorite preacher, who was a genuine friend, Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001)...

  1. What Will We Do In Heaven?
  2. Abel In Heaven
  3. Heaven Is A Place
  4. A Prepared Heaven
  5. What Makes Heaven Happy?
  6. Heaven Is Jesus
  7. Music Of Heaven
  8. The Realities Of Heaven
  9. What Would Happen If The Lord Would Not Let Me In Heaven?
  10. The Heaven In Heaven
  11. The Road To Heaven Is Paved With Love
  12. My Sword Has Been Bathed In Heaven
  13. Educated For Heaven
  14. The Location And Size Of Heaven

I desire as a born-again Christian to leave this sin-cursed world, and go to Heaven to be with Jesus my God and Savior. I rejoice for each day that passes, which means that I am one day closer to eternity. Proverbs 4:18, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Yet, I rejoice also for each day remaining of my time on earth, which gives me the blessed opportunity to preach the Gospel to win more souls to Christ, and to feed the Lord's sheep. Once I am dead and gone from this human flesh, it is over! Life is a one-shot deal. That thought burned in my heart years ago, which prevented me from committing suicide. There is no return once we leave the body! So I choose to live every remaining day of my life winning souls. Philippians 1:21, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

I encourage every Christian to become a soulwinner, which is God's will for every believer according to Luke 8:15, “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” This Bible verse speaks concerning the parable of the Sower and the Seeds (Luke 8:11-15). In the last category, the seeds of the Sower fell upon fertile ground and souls were won. Is your soul fertile ground for the truth dear friend? Can God work in your heart concerning His will in your life? Are you sharing the Gospel with the lost wherever you go? The key to finding happiness in life is to become a soulwinner! There is no way to find happiness in life apart from winning souls to the Lord Jesus Christ!

Death is a Glorious Event for the Child of God

Death is a glorious event for the Christian believer. 1st Thessalonians 4:13-14, “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” As believers we don't hope; but rather, WE HAVE A HOPE of eternal life! Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” Amen!

The heathen world are infatuated with making money, laying up wealth for old age, and achieving worldly success, but NONE of these things carry any weight nor meaning with God. The Bible tells us how to have true success and prosperity, by abiding in and heeding the inspired Word of God. Joshua 1:8, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” True success begins and ends with the Holy Bible!!!!!!! Only a fool would disagree!

As Christians we have different values in life. We don't value money like the world does. Our priorities are different. We prioritize obeying God and winning souls, not making money and satisfying our fleshly lusts as the world does. For a born-again Christian who is living right, death is something that we look forward to. I can't wait to get off this insane planet! Death has no sting for the child of God! 1st Corinthians 15:55-56, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.” For the unsaved person, death brings a woeful sting, plunging them into the fires of Hell; but death has no power over the child of God, because we already possess eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

Psalms 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”
