The Good That Comes From The Bad
By David J. Stewart | April 2019
1st Corinthians 11:19, “For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.”
I have written at length about my fallout with the Harvest Baptist Church (HBC) on Guam since 2014, which makes me sad. I am not a troublemaker, God knows my heart. Unfortunately, all you have to do to cause trouble is stand your ground when you are right. The famous motto of the Texas Rangers is: “No man in the wrong can stand up against a fellow that's in the right and keeps on acomin'!” All I have ever done is be true to my faith as a born-again believer.
The pastors of HBC specifically berated me in 2014 for warning several church members about Martin Luther (1483-1546). I have consequently since been banned in writing from returning to the church. The senior pastor told me in 2014 that “Martin Luther was born-again.” Folks, that pastor is woefully ignorant. I have never mentioned any names because this is not personal, it is a matter of being right. I say that kindly. But worse, that shameful pastor is willfully ignorant, because when I tried to give him THE TRUTH he hard-heartedly rejected it! That is wicked!!!
Please read the free online .PDF insightful book by Pastor Max Younce titled, Martin Luther: Master Of Deceit. The ugly truth is that Mr. Luther taught sacramental salvation until he died in 1546. Luther allegedly read in the Holy Bible in 1517 that, “The just shall live by faith,” and was converted. But just 12 years later in 1529 in Luther's catechisms, he wrote that water baptism and holy communion are absolutely required to be saved, which is damnable heresy!!! Some people may argue that Luther was simply confused as a baby convert, but that is not the case at all, because if your mindset is WRONG concerning the Gospel, then you cannot be saved!!!
Albeit, there is a bright side to my fallout with Harvest Baptist Church, and that is this—tens of thousands of people on the internet have been compelled to question their beliefs about salvation, which has exposed heresy and brought to light the true Gospel of free grace. 1st Corinthians 11:19, “For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.” What a great Scripture! No doubt some people would say that I am being unethical by preaching against churches, but so be it if what I say be true, because I am contending for the Christian faith!
“I still believe that I'm right, that's the reason I can stay in the fight!” —Evangelist Lester Roloff, “The Lost Fear Of God.”
I love the people at Harvest Baptist Church more than they'll ever know, and I miss the friends I made while there. Many of them have gone their own way, moved back to the states, and I doubt if I'd even recognize the church today. I don't like change, I never have, but sometimes change is good. If there is something wrong that needs to be made right, then things should change. Pastor Jack Hyles used to wisely say that we should always be willing to move to the right, but never to the left (i.e., the wrong way). Change is painful but sometimes necessary. All in all, I like for things to stay just as they are (and don't yank my dog chain until it's time for dinner...lol). I long for a family in Heaven that will never go away. My heart hurts daily, longing to be loved as much as I love. 2nd Corinthians 12:15, “And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.” It hurts to tell the truth and be outcast for it, wanting to be accepted and loved. I sometimes hate being a preacher, but I cannot betray my roots in the Christian faith. And then my constant chronic neck pain overshadows everything, making my life difficult.
I know the pain of not having companionship. One man wrote to me and said that his wife left him two weeks earlier, and he didn't know if he could stand the temptation without her. I wrote back and told him to try being without wife for 13 years like I have since 2006! I would travel to the ends of the world, and spend every penny I have, and give all my earthly possessions, just to find a godly wife with a tender and caring heart, but that doesn't appear to be God's will for me. Scams abound in the internet. I've been watching YouTube videos about finding a foreign wife through dating agencies, and it is discouraging stuff. I wish I could find an average plain Jane country gal, a white girl, raised in a Christian family, who just wants to make a life for each other in the Lord. Moving to Guam has been a curse for me, painting myself into a corner. There is no pain of soul like that of loneliness, but God is making lemonade with the lemons in my life, using my inexplicable pain of soul to compel me to work even harder to get people saved! I'm now 52. If the Lord tarries, and I don't get run over by someone in a hurry to get to McDonalds, I'll be 70 before I know it, which I dread. I want to go home to be with Jesus!
I am doing the best that I know how, with what God has given me, with a broken heart, having lost my marriage and home, trying to make a difference for eternity. One of the greatest truths I have ever heard was by the former school principle of Harvest Baptist Academy on Guam at Harvest Baptist Church. The guy was a jerk sometimes, but I loved him as my Christian brother, and looked up to him. I was compelled to write an article about what he preached one particular Sunday night at church, titled, “Debt Leveraging For An Eternal Lifestyle.” What an awesome truth!!! Thus, I re-channel my emotional and physical pain into soul-winning! Psalms 142:4, “I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.”
I have been struggling with my emotions lately, tired in my soul and feeling overwhelmed by life. That comes easy when you're in constant bodily pain of some sort, and the discomfort of burning nerves. It is hard to be spiritual when you're in pain! One of my favorite Bible verses is Proverbs 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” It is very important that we all abide daily in the Scriptures, to stay focused on eternal things, and not become choked by the cares, riches and pleasures of this temporary life (Luke 8:14). I love everyone, and wish I could give a thousand lifetimes to help the destitute, brokenhearted, imprisoned, poor and lonely. One of the most frustrating things about being human is to be limited in every way, not being able to help others as much as I desire. I remember Mrs. Beverly Hyles (1929-2017) saying that her husband, Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001), felt the same way before he went to Heaven.
Berated for Speaking the Truth
One shameful Pensacola Christian College intern on Guam (who thankfully left and went back to PCC in Florida), berated me by reminding me that I am “not an apostle,” and said I have no right to criticize churches. May I say, kindly, neither was Jude an apostle, but look what the Bible says in Jude 1:3, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Contending for the faith is every believer's duty. John the Baptist wasn't very ethical either! The Apostle Paul offended the churches. Galatians 4:16, “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” Where in the Word of God does it teach that Christians ought not speak out against bad preachers and heresy in the churches?
Telling THE TRUTH is dirty business, because people get offended quickly, don't want to hear it, and they want you to SHUT UP and go away! Bob Jones University (BJU) just wants the money, so they drive in the middle of the road, where you'll find a bunch of dead skunks! BJU deceitfully tries to give the impression that they use only the King James Bible, while simultaneously sanctioning the Devil's counterfeit Bible versions to appease theological critics (and boost student enrollment from wishy-washy churches). They cannot have it both ways. You're never going to make everybody happy, nor should we try. What saith the Scripture? Zechariah 8:16, “These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates.”
I agree with Pastor Steven Anderson (one of my favorite preachers), who said:
“We need to understand that Elders are to be respected by default, but when they start teaching lies and wickedness and perversion and filth, at that point they've just lost respect right there. They've lost their right to be respected!” —Pastor Steven Anderson, a quote from the needful sermon, “The Baby Boomer Generation.”
I am a born-again Christian and a preacher, just like Paul was. I am concerned about heresy which has crept into the churches. I care! That is my horrible crime at Harvest Baptist Church, for which I have been berated, shunned and banned by the church, for simply telling THE TRUTH for their sakes...
2nd Corinthians 11:1-4, “Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”
Paul had led the believers at Corinth to the Lord, starting the local church there, and they were as his children begotten by Paul unto Jesus Christ. This is why Paul addressed the church of Galatia as his “children.” Galatians 4:19, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.” After 17 years of my online ministry, I gratefully have hundreds of web visitors who look up to me as their parent in the Lord, as Paul's converts did him, and I am humbled. I always tell people to “HEAR YE HIM!” Look to the One Who has the nail-scared hands, I am just a voice crying in the wilderness of cyberspace, as did John the Baptist (after whom I am gladly named, my middle name). I thank God for using me as His servant, even if in some small way, to make a difference for eternity!
In fact, I consider myself a “prisoner” for Christ! Paul said the same thing in Ephesians 3:1, “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles.” You see, a servant can quit any time he wants, but a prisoner cannot. The prophet Jeremiah quit preaching in his discouragement, knowing that Israel was about to be destroyed, but God's Word burned in his soul as a fire, and Jeremiah had to PREACH THE TRUTH! Jeremiah 20:9, “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.” I get discouraged all the time, but God's Word always burns in my heart and I cannot forbear... I MUST PREACH THE TRUTH!!!
Sometimes the Hero Has to Become the Villain
I feel like Batman in the 2008 superhero film, “The Dark Knight,” who took the blame for Harvey Dent, so that good would prevail over evil. I've been labeled as “the enemy” by many churches, for simply mashing on toes with THE TRUTH! Kindly, if the shoe fits, wear it! Harvest Baptist Church is Harvey Dent (aka, “Harvey Two-Face” Dent), who've been corrupted by evil. I'm Batman, trying to rescue them from the grip of darkness, the real hero who has been made out to be the villain. Pardon my illustration, but I think it is pretty good.
They claim to desire the truth at Harvest Baptist Church, but flat out rejected the truth when I handed it to them! That is two-faced, like Harvey Dent. They have two different plans of salvation circulating in the church, both Lordship Salvation and the free grace Gospel. Anything goes at Harvest, except THE TRUTH! When I gave their pastors the truth in a book titled, “I NEVER KNEW YOU,” by Michael P. Bowen, they rejected it. When I handed them the truth about the Devil's New International Version, in a book by Pastor Al Lacy titled, “NIV: THE ANTICHRIST'S BIBLE,” they rejected it! Do they really want the truth as they claim? No, they don't, which is why we have conflict.
If making enemies with churches makes me out to be the bad guy, because I care and want to help them see the truth, as a friend does, then I am glad to be the troublemaker that nobody likes or wants. I will continue to preach the truth until circumstances prevent me from doing so, or the Lord takes me home to Heaven (I was ready to go yesterday). Even so, come, Lord Jesus! God knows my sincerity in the matter, and knows that I love Him and want to stand for what is true and right. I am a big sinner just like anybody else. I don't have a single fault, I have MANY faults! The only difference between myself and the worst sinner on the planet, is the precious redeeming blood of the precious Lord Jesus Christ!!! I deserve to burn in Hell forever, and so do you! We cannot understand the idea of eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire, simply because God is so holy and righteous that we cannot grasp it. If we were to receive, what we truly deserve, the ground would immediately open beneath us and swallow us alive into Hell forever and ever. You better believe I make a fuss over the accuracy of the Gospel! You better believe I make an issue over the purity of the inspired Word of God!
Genesis 50:20, “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” The hurt against me inflicted by Harvest Baptist Church is being used by God to save many people alive, to shed light upon the curse of Calvinism which has crept into thousands of Baptist churches, including Harvest. Calvinism is NOT the Gospel! John MacArthur, Ray Comfort, Paul Washer, R.C. Sproul... all Satanic Calvinists! Pastor Curtis Hutson (1934-1995) refutes all 5 points of Calvinism! Truth Matters!!! The emerging church is apostate, emphasizing entertainment over Bible-truth! Bob Jones University majors on music and minors on truth! Today's Bible colleges are producing nurses instead of godly wives and mothers! To Hell with them all!
The prophet Jeremiah said with a broken heart, overlooking the ruins of Jerusalem in 586 BC after Babylon destroyed it with fire, “Is it nothing to you all ye that pass by?” (Lamentations 1:5). Is it nothing to you dear reader that hundreds of counterfeit Bible versions have crept into the churches? Sadly, that especially includes Baptist churches today! Is it nothing to you dear friend that the Satanic lie of Calvinism has crept into most of the churches? Why doesn't truth matter anymore to the churches? I don't know why God has chosen me for this task, but I think it is simply because I am a willing servant. God knows that I have a tender heart, and I care, and little things are important to me, and I have a fire burning in my soul for THE TRUTH! If that makes me the bad guy, the troublemaker, the fool, then so be it in the Lord! I love you all in the Lord, whoever you may be, and I plead with you to heed the truth.
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies...” —2nd Peter 2:1
