Bob Jones University Teaches Lordship Salvation Lie

by David J. Stewart | May 2020

Romans 4:5-6, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,”

Bob Jones University is pulling on the same rope as the Devil! Here is a deceptive quote from their college's website:

With regard to the doctrine of Soteriology:

We believe Scripture teaches that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Eph. 2:4–10; Rom. 3:21–26; Titus 3:5) and apart from any human work of righteousness (Phil. 3:9). God offers this salvation freely to all men who are willing to repent and turn from their sins (Acts 3:19, 17:30) and place their full faith and trust in the atonement Christ made by His finished work on the Cross (Luke 24:46–48, Heb. 9:11–15, 10:10–14). [emphasis added]

SOURCE: BJU Statements of Faith

Where does the Bible predicate getting saved on being willing to turn from sins? John 3:20-21, “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” The Bible doesn't say HE THAT IS WILLING TO FORSAKE SINS comes to the light; it says HE THAT DOETH TRUTH cometh to the light. Getting saved is a matter of acknowledging THE TRUTH of the Gospel, and not of turning away from sins. 2nd Timothy 2:25, “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;”

You cannot show me one verse from the inspired King James Bible that teaches for a person to “turn from sins” or “repent of sins” to be saved. I triple-dog dare you to find it if you disagree! You won't find it! Acts 20:21 teaches repentance “toward God.” Acts 20:21, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Carefully notice that repentance is not FROM SINS, but TOWARD GOD! You don't get saved by repenting, you get saved by believing; but repentance facilitates believing. Pastor Harry Ironside (1876-1951) helps explains what repentance is in the Bible:

“Repentance is the very opposite of meritorious experience. It is the confession that one is utterly without merit, and if he is ever saved at all it can only be through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ, 'who gave himself a ransom for all.' Here is firm footing for the soul who realizes that all self-effort is but sinking sand. Christ alone is the Rock of our salvation.” —Harry A. Ironside; 'Except Ye Repent,' p. 36

I love Brother Ironside! Consider further the following awesome quote by Harry Ironside (which John MacArthur would NEVER share with you)...

The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past …

Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.” [emphasis added]—Harry A. Ironside, from the sermon: 'What Is The Gospel?'

Hooray, Dr. Ironside gets it 100% correct!!! Read how Pastor John MacArthur tries to put Dr. Ironside in his “turn from your sins” false repentance camp, but Mr. MacArthur is a theological liar!

Read what Dr. Ironside said in his Gospel tract, ANOTHER GOSPEL? ...

“When anyone comes promising salvation to those ‘who make full surrender' of all that they have to God, and who 'pay the price of full salvation' he is preaching another gospel, for the price was paid on Calvary's cross and the work that saves is finished. It was Christ Jesus who made the full surrender when He yielded His life on Calvary that saves us, not our surrender in any way to Him. —Harry A. Ironside, from the Gospel tract, 'Another Gospel'

In your face MacArthur! Harry Ironside just contradicted everything MacArthur teaches concerning salvation.

Bob Jones University: It’s a Question of Doctrine

BJU'S Soteriology: 'Turn From Your Sins' To Be Saved

An Analysis of Bob Jones University’s Position Paper on Calvinism, Arminianism and Reformed Theology

Bob Jones College Has Changed Very Much Since 1927

On January 26, 2015 in chapel at Bob Jones University, newly inaugurated BJU president Dr. Steve Pettit taught damnable heresy to the students! The chapel talk is titled: “How What Does It Mean To Run The Race?” Dr. Pettit is a dangerous false prophet. It is a crying shame that BJU foolishly hired him to lead the college. Bob Jones Sr. (1883-1968) would strongly disapprove, be ashamed and close the college doors if he could today! The school was founded in 1927. At that time, you never would have seen a female BJU girl in pants. Today, their female students wear revealing short shorts just like the ungodly heathen world. BJU has changed for the worse!

I am not married and it is difficult to live alone. When I see my neighbour's wives from BJU wearing pants, I have to struggle with my thoughts. They are beautiful and I am a man. I am not supposed to covet, but they don't care how they dress, and I have a man's mind. It's not fair! To every woman reading this—please conceal ladies, don't reveal. I know I have offended some Bob Jones females with my sharp comments. The truth is I want to marry one of you, and I am jealous of you all. I am lonely. I can sum up all my writings against Harvest Baptist Church and Bob Jones University with just four words: “I want a wife!” That is what this is all about. The Lord is using my frustrations to fuel my Bible preaching, and I intend to continue. God did the same thing with Samson (Judges 14:3-4).

BJU has changed much since 1927. Back in their Hey Day, BJU only used the inspired King James Bible. How did they end up using multiple Bible revisions, and sanctioning hundreds? Their official position on BJU's website is that they support “the totality of extant manuscript evidence.” That is as wicked as Hell! God only authored one Book, not two, not 900. Bob Jones University promotes corruptible seed! They have blood on their hands!!! BJU has definitely changed, for the worse. In 1927 Bob Jones College were King James Bible only, and female students and staff didn't wear pants and halter tops, and the college didn't teach turning from sins to be saved (which is the heresy of Lordship Salvation, Calvinism).

Dr. Steve Pettit's Damnable Counterfeit Calvinist Gospel

This man is not a born-again Christian! I am going to share some very disturbing comments Dr. Pettit made in chapel to over 2,600 students. Now I know why Harvest Baptist Church on Guam won't allow me to attend their church, because they are a haven of heretical BJU alumni. Mr. Pettit sounds like John MacArthur junior!!! Mr. Pettit heretically made these horrible ungodly statements in a BJU chapel talk on January 26, 2015. These are some doctrinally frightening statements (I'll comment in between to refute his junk theology).

Dr. Steve Pettit heretically says:

“So when we talk about 'The Race,' what are we talking about? We're talking about beginning and salvation, and then running the race through pursuing holiness and ministry, and service to others. But then let me say, that number three: This race HAS TO be faithfully run to the finish! You HAVE TO finish. Salvation is not just a past reality—“I GOT SAVED,” but is a future destiny! The race is not completed until you cross the finish line at death. What is this race—it is the race as we are running as we are headed toward Heaven.” (10:27)

Dear reader, Mr. Pettit is a devil in the pulpit. Sadly, he has influence over thousands of impressionable students as the new president of Bob Jones University. Mr. Pettit is caught between grace and works, and is not saved. There is no way he can be saved, since he is adding living a certain type of lifestyle to the Gospel. He plainly says you cannot say, “I GOT SAVED!” Well folks, I got saved at age 13, and if I ever choose to live in fornication, stealing, drunkenness and running over kittens and puppies with my car, I will still be 100% eternally safe in the Father's hands. Grace will “much more abound” (Romans 5:20b). Acts 13:39 says a that the believer is “JUSTIFIED FROM ALL THINGS” Acts 13:39, “And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” Dr. Steve Pettit is a theological LIAR!!!

Dr. Steve Pettit heretically goes on to say:

You can't just speak about getting saved, and you accepted Christ, and then that's it! There is a justification; There is a sanctification; There's ultimately a glorification, and though there are three parts, they are all part of the whole, and you cannot separate them. In order for you to qualify for the award, you have to get into the race, you have to stay in the race, and you have to finish the race. If you want to win, you have to run to the end; and winning in the Christian life is everything, because if you lose—if you don't finish—you lose everything—you lose your SOUL. And so, the Christian race is the life of faith that begins, is run, and is finished when we cross over into Heaven!” (emphasis added - 11:34)

Are you getting this folks? Dr. Pettit teaches salvation as a process instead of a new birth. This is exactly what Evangelist Paul Washer errantly teaches, calling Baptist soulwinners “stupid” for encouraging new converts to write down their name, date, time and place they got saved. Steve Pettit is your typical false prophet, who talks out of both sides of his mouth. On one side he says a believer has eternal security; but then on the other side of his mouth, he says that you will LOSE EVERYTHING if you don't stay in the race and faithfully finish it. Read what Steve Pettit heretically says:

“For the real reality of the genuineness of your faith is that you are faithful to run the race!” (22:44)

“We run the race, we cross the finish line, and so what’s the prize? What is the award? Well, there are different viewpoints. Some would have the viewpoint that the awards are crowns in Heaven. But as I read the book of Hebrews and see the whole gist of the book and the flow of the book, I don’t believe its referring to crowns in Heaven. I think it is referring to Heaven itself.” (22:57)

“God's people HAVE TO continue in the faith! They MUST PERSEVERE, because perseverance is the testimony of the reality of your faith!” [emphasis added - 25:13)

That is works salvation!!! Kindly, Steve Pettit says he doesn't believe you can lose salvation, but doesn't believe you were ever saved if you don't life a lifestyle of holiness to prove it! How is that not works? Since all of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags to God (Isaiah 64:6), then why would you use those filthy rags to prove you're saved? If we're not saved by good works, then why would we use good works to verify it? Wicked people can do good works! Mother Teresa is world renowned for her kindness, good deeds and religious devotion, but is sadly burning in Hell because of her Roman Catholic faith. Sacraments never saved anybody!

Devil Steve Pettit continues to brainwash BJU students with a counterfeit gospel...

“So the challenge of the book of Hebrews is this—you have to run the race and you must be faithful!” (26:34)

You see, he is confusing salvation with discipleship! The new birth does not require running a race faithfully. Your rewards in Heaven are dependent upon you running the race faithfully, not your salvation. Demas didn't run the race, he quit because he loved the world (2nd Timothy 4:10). Ananias and Sapphira were killed by the Holy Spirit for lying, they didn't run into anything except trouble (Acts 5:1-5). Samson lived in sin all his life. Judges 16:1 said Samson went in unto a harlot. That is God's man! The Word of God is filled with worldly sinful believers. Listening to Steve Pettit today made me want to vomit. He is a Calvinist, just as wicked and dangerous as John MacArthur, Ray Comfort, John Piper, R.C. Sproul and Paul Washer.

Mr. Pettit continues, heretical saying:

“Now, there’s almost a dilemma that immediately arises up. Fact is I’ve already had some statements on this to me. Because it almost gives the impression that you’re saying that you can lose your salvation, and I have not really said that at all. What I would like to say is…God’s people have to continue in the faith. They must persevere because perseverance is the testimony of the reality of your faith.” [emphasis added - 24:14)

SOURCE: What Does It Mean To Run The Race?

Nowhere does the Holy Bible teach that garbage!!! Steve Pettit is a corrupted religious leader, a false prophet, a deadly wolf in sheep's clothing, perverting young people's minds with a bunch of Calvinistic lies! John Calvin would be proud of him, and Satan both of them!!! Dear reader, is perseverance the testimony of the reality of your faith? What saith the Scripture? 1st John 3:24, “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” The Bible teaches it is the gift of the indwelling blessed Holy Spirit, who seals every saint (Ephesians 1:13), that PROVES we are God's child. The life we choose to live has absolutely nothing to do with salvation, except that God wants us (and commands us) to live for Christ because we have been bought with a price. 1st Corinthians 6:20, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” That “price” is the precious blood of Jesus (1st Peter 1:18-19). As Christians we SHOULD live for Christ; not MUST (that is works); not WILL (that is Calvinism).

Let's hear again what Mr. Pettit has to say...

“If you run and don't win, then you are truly the biggest losers!” (22:15)

What saith the Scripture? Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Who are you going to believe—Steve Pettit who says you're a loser if you don't live a certain manner of lifestyle, or God who says ALL BELIEVERS are more than conquerors? Lot was a dirty sinner. In Genesis, Lot had such a poor testimony that when he tried to talk to his relatives about God, they laughed in his face as one who mocked. They couldn't take him seriously. Yet, God calls Lot a righteous man (2nd Peter 2:7). Lot was more than a conqueror through Christ!!! Ladies and gentleman, we must keep salvation and discipleship separate!!! Eternal life is the free gift of God (Romans 6:23). Those who receive that free gift, by faith alone in the 'Good News' of Jesus Christ, are instantly and eternally MORE THAN CONQUERORS!!! Steve Pettit says no, that you must perform well, and earn a good report card with God, in order to be a winner. Do you see how wicked this man is in his false religious teachings? Mr. Pettit is the biggest loser (Matthew 7:21-23)!

I don't care how wicked of a life you may live, your POSITION in Christ was forever settled the moment you got saved. Steve Pettit is VERY WRONG, you sure can say “I GOT SAVED!” Mr. Pettit says, no, you cannot truly say you are saved, until you've finished faithfully running the race to Heaven. That is a works-based plan of salvation. I sure hope you see that! I got saved at age 13. I KNOW beyond any shadow of a doubt that I am already saved, because GOD PROMISED in 1st Corinthians 1:21b to “SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE.” In the Gospel of John we find the precious word “BELIEVE” mentioned 85 times, with no mention of anything else. There is no requirement to pursue a life of holiness, ministry and service to others as “the testimony of the reality of your faith.” Steve Pettit is a false prophet of false prophets!!!

Dear friend, read these precious Bible verses, and take them to heart, for they boldly call Steve Pettit a liar...

Romans 4:5-6, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,”

This Scripture is a reference back to Genesis 15:6, when Abram (Abram) believed the Lord, and it was COUNTED to him for righteousness. I love this doctrine more than any other in the Holy Bible. It is called the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus Christ! You see, I have no righteousness, none whatsoever; and neither do you. But Jesus lived a sinless life, and He is totally righteousness, the perfect spotless Lamb of God. Jesus died as the perfect sacrifice—the sacrificial Lamb of God—to pay for all our sins on the cross.

He resurrected as our heavenly High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16). When you put your complete trust in Jesus, receiving His sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, God places Jesus' righteousness on you! That all happens by childlike faith. From that point on, God ALWAYS sees Christ's righteousness, and NEVER your sins. It doesn't matter if you run the race, you will finish! Every Christian will finish the race, because we all cross the finish line at death! How we run the race is up to us. Kindly, Dr. Steve Pettit doesn't know what he is talking about, and is very ignorant of the Scriptures, to his own destruction (2nd Peter 3:16-17). Every believer is made 100% righteous by the blood of Jesus, and whether or not you faithfully run the Christian race has NOTHING to do with the free gift of eternal life. That is why God called it a “free gift” (Romans 5:15; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).

I believe in what Dr. Curtis Hutson and Pastor Harry Ironside believed in—the PRESERVATION of the saints, not the PERSEVERANCE of the saints. Like Dr. Ironside, I believe in the perseverance of the HOLY SPIRIT in each saint, and not the perseverance of the SAINTS! Once saved always saved. The Holy Spirit indwells, seals and guides each saint. Once a person is saved, the Holy Spirit will persevere in them; but this has nothing to do with the heretical idea that a saint must live a certain way. The Holy Spirit convicts us about sin as God's child, but that doesn't mean we won't sin! We have a choice! Steve Pettit is essentially teaching that if you choose to walk in the flesh you won't go to Heaven!!!

“It would be a godsend if the Church would suffer persecution today; she hasn't suffered it for hundreds of years. She is growing rich and lagging behind. Going back.” ~Billy Sunday

Beware Of Bob Jones University

Evangelist Steve Pettit is a false teacher! Although he claims to believe in eternal security, he horribly contradicts himself when he teaches that saints MUST PERSEVERE!

Dr. Pettit makes the grave error of combining discipleship with salvation (this is a good article featuring teachings by Pastor Hank Lindstrom, 1940-2008). Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) exposes this heresy in his classic sermon titled: “Steps In Sanctification; Or, The Root Of All Heresy.”

Bob Jones University made a big mistake hiring Steve Pettit. I hope they will fire him and get somebody in there who actually believes the Gospel as taught in the Holy Bible. Essentially, Steve Pettit is John MacArthur! Shame on Steve Pettit! Here is the Scripture passage that he corrupts...

Hebrews 12:1-2, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Dr. Pettit conditions salvation upon staying in the race, persevering to finish it! Read again what Dr. Pettit falsely teaches:

“God's people HAVE TO continue in the faith! They MUST PERSEVERE, because perseverance is the testimony of the reality of your faith!” [emphasis added - 25:13)

That is almost verbatim what heretic Ray Comfort teaches...

“That's all repentance is—You've sinned against God; it's a matter of saying, 'God, I'm sorry,' and then LIVING A LIFESTYLE that proves the reality of your repentance. That's what repentance is, it's a continual thing! God, 'I'm sorry, but I'm not going going to lie or steal or blaspheme Your name ever again. It has that attitude! And the second thing—trust in Jesus!” [emphasis added]

SOURCE: Evangelist Ray Comfort, I've never killed anyone” (MP3 clip from video).

GET THEE BEHIND ME SATAN!!! Steve Pettit is a devil in the pulpit! Ray Comfort is a devil in the pulpit! John MacArthur is a devil in the pulpit! These men are scumbag Calvinists!!!

The Bible Teaches The 'Preservation Of The Saints,' Not The 'Perseverance Of The Saints'

Pastor Curtis Hutson (1934-995) refutes the heresy of the 'Perseverance of The Saints.' Pastor Ralph “Yankee” Arnold beautifully gets it right, who says:

“'You can't tell me you can trust Christ as Savior, and then go out here and live like the Devil, and still go to Heaven!' Yes, I can tell you that! That's what the Bible says. If you don't come to the conclusion, that—Yes, you can trust Christ as your Savior and live like the Devil, and still go to Heaven when you die—you don't get grace, because that is the exact truth! That is the truth! I do not have to change my life! I don't have to stop one sin! You say, 'I've never heard a preacher say that.' You just heard one! And you listen to me—I want to live as holy and as godly as I possibly can. I am now 70 years old. I've been saved for 52 years. ... the only reason I'm going to Heaven is because, 52 years ago in a little living room, I accepted Christ as my Savior.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, a great quote from the awesome sermon, Calvinism And Grace Are NOT Compatible | MP3

Dr. Bob Jones Sr. himself taught salvation through simple faith in Jesus Christ, none of this “turn from your sins” crap that heretics' Steve Pettit, John MacArthur, Bob Jones University and Calvinists are all teaching! Dr. Jones rightly says:

“God gives you eternal life when you take Him. Eternal life is wrapped up in Christ. 'He that hath the Son hath life.' There is just one difference between a Christian and a sinner. A Christian has Christ and a sinner does not have Him. That is the only difference. All you need is Jesus. It is all in Jesus! If you will take Him, He will blot out all your sins. If you take Him, He will give you a new nature. If you take Him, He will go with you along the journey of life. He will be with you when you are tempted. He will put arms of power around you and give you the victory. 'By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.” —Dr. Bob Jones Sr., “Things I Have Learned: Chapel Talks,” page 223; Bob Jones University Press, ©1945

I have read the entire book by Dr. Bob Jones Sr. titled: “THINGS I HAVE LEARNED,” and there is nothing about “turning from sins” to be saved. The last chapter of the book is titled, “HOW ARE WE SAVED?” There is no mention of “repenting of your sins” or being “willing to turn from your sins” to receive the free gift of eternal life. The foolish Bob Jones University crowd have been BEWITCHED!!! (Galatians 3:1-3). Oh foolish Bob Jonians, who hath bewitched you, that you should follow another gospel? Oh foolish Harvest Baptist Church on Guam, whom I dearly love so much, who hath bewitched you that you should believe another gospel? Galatians 4:16, “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?”

Bob Jones University Has Been Bewitched By Ecumenism And Fake Bibles

Due to the influence of the modern Bible perversions, which are biased toward Calvinism, BJU has adopted Satanic Calvinist theology. I told everyone that this would happen, but nooooo, no one listened! Many men of God long before me warned that this world happen; such godly men as: M.R. DeHaan, Peter Ruckman, Bob Gray Sr., Al Lacy, Lester Roloff, James Sightler, Jack Hyles and countless others. Ironically, BJU honored Brother Roloff by giving him an honorary doctorates degree. Yet, why won't BJU heed Brother Roloff's stern warnings against the Devil's corruptible seed? ...

“The Word of God is our only hope—that's our only hope! This has been the generation of translations and abominations, and perversions, of the Word of God! It's been a long time; now when the Revised Standard Version came out, I stood against it before I knew what it was, because the wrong crowd heard of that, and the wrong crowd received it, and I knew it got too much publicity to be right! And I knew if the newspapers publicized something, it had to be wrong! And so I knew that the American people and a lot of American preachers—they welcomed it into their house before they knew it was a rattlesnake!” —Brother Lester Roloff, a needful quote from the MP3 sermon titled, “'THE LIVING BIBLE' EXPOSED!

“The worst rattlesnake on this earth, is the man that twists or seeks to modernize, or take from or add to, the Word of God!” —Brother Lester Roloff, a needful quote from the awesome MP3 sermon titled, “'THE LIVING BIBLE' EXPOSED!

“This has been the generation of seeking to rewrite the Bible. Have you noticed that? For a long time they didn't fool with it, hardly; but now this has been a drastic change—all the way from the Revised Standard Version (RSV), to Good News For Modern Man (GNB), and all the rest of it. Far as I'm concerned, this is the best news I've ever found in the King James Version. And I can tell you, you're just about branded an ignoramus if you just keep standing with the King James Version. But I want to say again, I wouldn't change from anything that got me saved, and got me called to preach, and then gave me the key to living, and gave me the key to good health, and told me how to get people saved, and told me how to keep my home together, and how to be a blessing to my children and my grandchildren. I mean I found it all in the King James Version, so until you can find something a lot better, don't come peddling by my house, hear! I'm just gonna stay with this one, because [it] met every need I've ever had. I've never had a need in my life, that the King James Version didn't meet.” —Brother Lester Roloff, a needful quote from the MP3 sermon titled, “ THE BOOK THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE” (I made this sermon excerpt and called it: 'King James Version Meets All Our Needs')

“Now, there's only one thing we need in America—and that is an old-fashioned real Bible revival! I mean a real BIBLE REVIVAL! It'll straighten out the home, straighten out the children, make the husband act right, put the wife in order; it'll take care of the preacher, the church; I mean it'll fix up the community, I mean it'll stop the Devil dead in his tracks; I mean it'll give victory to God's people—the Word of God!” —Brother Lester Roloff (1914-1982), “The Book That Makes The Difference!

Why doesn't BJU listen to Brother Roloff? Why doesn't First Baptist Church of Hammond today listen to what Pastor Jack Hyles taught them for decades? I'll tell you—people follow their leaders instead of thinking for themselves! That is why the apostle Paul bragged on the Bereans, because they did their homework! Acts 17:11, “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Repeatedly we are taught in the King James Bible that God's Words are very pure (Proverbs 30:5; Psalms 12:6-7; 119:140; Matthew 4:4). Evidently the leaders at the First Baptist Church of Hammond today, think they know more than a 74 year old man did (their former pastor, Dr. Jack Hyles).

God's Curse Is Upon Bob Jones University

BJU is preaching another Gospel. Galatians 1:6-9, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

Dr. Pettit said:

The audience can only conclude from the preceding statement that professed Christians who don't stay in the race, and finish it, won't go to Heaven. That is another gospel, accursed by God. The apostle Paul feared this very scenario at Bob Jones University. I seriously doubt if the church at Galatia had more than a couple hundred members (likely much less). Steve Pettit gave this counterfeit plan of salvation to over 2,600 students at BJU. How tragic and sad! 2nd Corinthians 11:3-4, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” Steve Pettit has a very dark theological mindset that is not the free grace Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Truthfully, I am afraid of these people doctrinally. These men have corrupted the Gospel. I heard the senior pastor at Harvest Baptist Church on Guam say from his pulpit, on a Sunday Morning, that it is not enough to admit you are a sinner, but he says, YOU MUST turn away from a lifestyle of sin. Now I know where he gets that flawed thinking from. Dr. Pettit is his good friend. They all love John MacArthur. Birds of a feather flock together. Something is very wrong with the theology of these men. These are all good men in character, and I do not speak anything negative as to their person; I am only criticizing their errantly theological positions on the Bible. Jude 1:3, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Anybody who teaches that you cannot be born-again, and claim the new birth as a done deal, as a lying false prophet!!! Steve Pettit conditions the believer's salvation on one's human performance, but Biblical salvation is completely in God's hands. Our part is only to believe!!! Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith.

The most frightening thing is that many of those students were taking notes. Thousands of them are tomorrow's church leaders. My God in Heaven, how could this have happened?
