Crowns Available For Believers
by David J. Stewart | September 2018
Colossians 3:3, “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
The Five Crowns Given at the Judgment Seat of Christ:
1. Crown of Rejoicing (or Soul Winner’s Crown):
Daniel 12:3; Proverbs 11:30,31; 1 Thessalonians 2:19; Philippians 4:1
2. Crown of Righteousness (or Looking for Christ’s Return):
Luke 21:28; 2 Timothy 4:1,8; Titus 2:13,14. Titus 2:12 - This crown is our motivation for not quitting, keeping the faith, and fighting a good fight while looking for the soon appearing of Jesus Christ. (1 John 3:3 and 2:28). This crown is given for living right, so that we won't have to be ashamed when Jesus appears, finding us living in selfishness and sin. 2nd Timothy 4:8, “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Backslidden believers don't care if the Lord returns, and so they are living as if unsaved. This crown seems similar to the crown of life, but the difference is that this crown is given to the believer who looks forward to Christ's return at the Rapture; whereas the crown of life is for the believer who perseveres through hardships.
3. Incorruptible Crown (or Separation):
1 Corinthians 7:19, 24, 25, 27; Romans 12:1.
4. Crown of Life;
or, enduring testings, being faithful, even unto death. – James 1:12; Revelation 2:10 – It has a double application. (1 Peter 4:12-16 and 1 Peter 1:4). You are faithful, even being executed for your faith; or, faithful until you die naturally. Revelation 2:10, “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
5. Crown of Glory;
or, the Pastor’s Crown, and can include evangelists, TV and radio pastors, Bible teachers in colleges and seminaries, Sunday School teachers, anyone who has the responsibility of teaching God’s Word to others. (1 Peter 5:1-4 (Acts 20:19-33). 1st Peter 5:1-4, “The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” This crown is only for faithful pastors, evangelists and Bible teachers. Pastors who promote corruptible seed (i.e., the perverse Alexandrian text) won't receive this crown. They are shameful pastors. Preachers who make light of the accurate meaning of “repentance” for salvation (which is a change of mind from wrong thoughts to believe the Gospel), won't receive this reward. Doctrine matters! Why should God reward unfaithful pastors? There is no “glory” in promoting corruptible seed, wrong repentance, the perversity of Lordship Salvation, nor dropping the ball for God!
