Dr. John Goetsch Agrees With The Seventh-Day Adventist Cult

by David J. Stewart | September 2019

I was watching a heretical YouTube sermon today titled “SALVATION” by iconic Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) cult teacher, Doug Batchelor. Pastor Batchelor is without a doubt the most prominent voice in the SDA religion today. For those of you who don't know, Seventh-Day Adventism began in the year 1844 when a doctrinally corrupt Baptist preacher named William Miller set a date for Christ's return. The date was October 22, 1844. Over ten thousand followers of Miller gave away their worldly possessions, quit their jobs and sold their homes, awaiting the return of the Lord.

To their embarrassment, Jesus didn't return! This failed prophecy became known as “The Great Disappointment” (warning: SDA website). The Bible teaches in Mark 13:33 that no one knows the time of Christ' return. (By the way, Robert Breaker is a modern-day religious heretic on YouTube who has repeatedly made false predictions of Christ's return, setting dates for the Rapture.) To save face in 1844, someone suggested that they had misinterpreted the Scriptures, and what really happened was Jesus entered into the Holy Place in Heaven to begin His work of Investigative Judgment (a heretical term exclusive to SDA). The SDA religion was born and in time Miss Ellen G. White became the most revered figure in the SDA religion. Miss White's many writings are elevated equally with the Word of God in SDA. Tragically, an estimated 20,000,000 people today are deceived by the SDA religion, following a false plan of partial faith plus works for salvation.

Doug Batchelor makes it very clear in his satanic YouTube sermon titled, “Salvation - Law - Grace,” that keeping the Ten Commandment is necessary to get to Heaven. SDA's are sneaky as the Devil, superficially claiming that salvation is by faith, but then they require keeping the Ten Commandment as the way of having that faith. So if you are living in open sin SDA's will say that you do not have saving-faith! That sure sounds eerily familiar to what Dr. John Goetsch teaches. As I listened to Doug Batchelor teach “ANOTHER GOSPEL” (Galatians 1:6-9), he errantly defines repentance to mean “a willingness to turn away from sins”...

“Repentance means being sorry for our sins and have a willingness to turn away from them.”

SOURCE: Pastor Doug Batchelor, 'SALVATION'

Where does the Bible say that repentance means to be sorry for your sins? It doesn't. We read that “godly sorrow worketh repentance” (2nd Corinthians 7:10), but sorrow is NOT repentance! Judas felt sorrow, and the Bible says he “repented” (Matthew 27:3), but it is a completely different word (metamellomai, i.e., to feel remorse and regret) for repentance than is used for salvation (metanoia, i.e., a change of mind). Judas was only sorry that he got caught. Judas felt sorrow, but sorrow is not a change of mind unto the Gospel. So feeling sorrow is not a requirement to be saved. Furthermore, Judas was willing to turn away from sins, evidenced by his attempt to return the 30 pieces of silver to the Pharisees. Judas regretted the evil he had done. So we see very clearly that sorrow, regret and turning from sins is NOT the way to be saved, because Judas still went to Hell.

Unfortunately, Dr. John Goetsch (who teaches at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California) foolishly teaches the same thing as false teacher Doug Batchelor (i.e., that you must turn away from sins to be saved)...

“'Okay, here I am—I'm a sinner. I'm on my way to Hell. Uh, okay I don't want to go to Hell. Lord, please come into my life, save me.' No, that's not salvation! That is a prayer. That's not salvation—you didn't turn! You didn't repent! The word 'repent' means 'about face, 180 degree turn.' That's what it literally means. See, when we get saved there has to be repentance. You can't have salvation and your sin. You've gotta turn from your sin to Jesus Christ!” [emphasis added]

Nowhere in the inspired Word of God (which is the King James Bible in English) are we taught to “turn from sin” or “repent from sin” to be saved. Neither of those phrases are found in the Holy Bible. The idea of turning away from sins to be saved is rooted in the self-righteousness of Cain, who tried to please God by offering the best grain that his fields could produce. ...

Genesis 4:1-5, “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.”

Abel's lamb sacrifice demonstrated his faith in the coming Messiah, who would one day shed His blood on the cross to pay for the sins of the world; but Cain missed the boat, as does Dr. John Goetsch and SDA's, trying to appease God's wrath with their own human effort. Sadly, SDA is growing rapidly in North America. I believe this is due to the woeful lack of local Bible-believing, Bible-preaching, King James Bible only, door-to-door soulwinning, people-loving, Spirit-filled, praying, New Testament churches. The Devil is winning many battles, even though we know Scripturally that the war is already won. Jesus told us as God's children to “BE OF GOOD CHEER” because He has already overcome the world (John 16:33). We are on the winning side in Christ Jesus!

As did his father Adam (who tried to cover his sins with fig-leaves), Cain also tried to please God in his own merit. God rejected Adam's fig-leave religion! God rejected Cain's works-based religion! God doesn't save anyone who is TRYING to be saved, He only saves those who are TRUSTING to be saved. Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith. Religion is man trying to reach God through human effort, but Christianity is God trying to reach man by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cross. Religion is the worst thing that ever happened to this world! Man's sinful nature tends to add human effort (works) to God's imputed righteousness, which is by faith. What saith the Scripture? Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” Oh, how I wish I could get churchgoers to understand this Bible verse! If Dr. John Goetsch truly understood this Bible verse, then he would never teach the false things that he does. God deliver us from intellectuals.

Dr. Goetsch further errantly states:

“'We cannot have salvation and our sins. Faith in Christ without repentance from sin is unbiblical. I know we don't always use both words when we talk about getting saved. We might say, 'You need to put your faith in Christ.' We might say, 'You need to turn from your sin.' Both are essential elements. Acts 20:21, 'Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.'” [emphasis added]

Oh dear reader, Dr. Goetsch utterly fails to understand that salvation is solely by the imputed righteousness of God. Please read the Bible again from Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” Did you get that?—WHICH IS BY FAITH!!! Romans 4:5-6, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.” That means I can continue living in sin, if I so choose, and still receive the gift of forgiveness of all my sins by faith alone! If that offends you, then get mad at our merciful God, because HE SAID IT! I am simply preaching the inspired Word of God!!!

What saith the Scripture? Romans 10:3-4, “For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” That means all that is required of a person to be deemed judicially innocent in God's court of law, is fulfilled by simple childlike faith in Jesus Christ. You read right! By simply placing your complete reliance (trust) upon what Christ did on the cross to pay for your sins, God accepts that faith as the equivalent of perfectly obeying all of God's commandments for a lifetime! There are (to my understanding) 722 commandments under the Old Covenant, all of which are required (not including ceremonial laws today) to be kept perfectly to obtain eternal life. I mean, if you want to earn your way to Heaven, you've got to be absolutely 100% perfect in every way before God. NO ONE HAS EVER DONE THAT EXCEPT JESUS CHRIST (Hebrews 4:14-16). That is why Jesus was able to become our Savior. The Bible says to break even one of God's Commandments is the same as breaking them all. In other words, you only have to commit one sin to become guilty, deserving of eternal damnation. James 2:10, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” By man's shallow standards, we think eternal damnation is too much punishment for a lesser sinner, but God is so holy and righteous that we cannot even begin to grasp His standards of justice and righteousness. If you commit just one sin, you deserve eternal damnation according to God's perfect holy standards. We all deserve to burn in Hell forever!

Thankfully, God made a sure way of escape, through the sacrifice of His only begotten Son. Romans 5:8-9, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” There is no mention of repenting from our sinful ways to be saved; but rather, of being justified “BY HIS BLOOD” through faith in Him alone. The very notion of having to “turn away from sins” (false repentance) to be saved is nauseating and repulsive to any learned Bible student. I feel sickened by what West Coast Baptist College is teaching their impressionable students. I am saddened that Pastor Paul Chappell is okay with this deadly junk theology. No parent ought enroll their child into a corrupt Bible college that teaches a false gospel. It is far beyond a mere matter of semantics! Works have no part or parcel in God's plan of redemption. We are saved by God's imputed righteousness, which is solely by faith, because it is a free gift (Romans 5:15,18; 6:23). Turning from sinful ways is a matter of growing in grace, of discipleship, and not of obtaining redemption.

“The worst pervert in America is the Gospel pervert!”

Lordship Salvation is rooted in self-righteousness, because all Christians are sinners. If living in sin can hinder a person from being saved, who desires to be saved, then we are all doomed to the Lake of Fire, because even the best Christians still sin every day (Romans 3:23; Romans 7:14-25). It is solely by God's merciful righteousness that we are saved through faith alone in Christ (2nd Corinthians 5:21). Lordship Salvation and the Pentecostal Charismatic heresy of losing one's salvation are related monsters. Lordship Salvationists ADD works to faith to get saved, and the Charismatics ADD works to faith to STAY saved. Regardless, these two damnable heresies are both rooted in works salvation! Good works, bad works or dead works, they are all WORKS!!! Romans 3:20, “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” The main purpose of God's LAW is to show mankind his SINNERSHIP, that we might see our great need for GRACE, through faith alone in the precious slain Lamb of God on Calvary's cross.

Please read What is Biblical Repentance?

The following excellent information by Dr. Hank Lindstrom is from the helpful Christian website, Get God's Gift...

THE INCOMPATIBILITY OF THE LORDSHIP GOSPEL WITH THE GOSPEL OF GRACE

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Galatians 1:8,9

The importance of this question can't be overestimated in relation to both salvation and sanctification. The message of faith only and the message of commitment of life can't both be the gospel; therefore, one of them is a false gospel and come under the curse of perverting the gospel or preaching another gospel.

"It is an inexcusable error to confront sinners with problems that concern the Christian life and call upon them to make promises regarding them. An unsaved person is never called upon to surrender himself to God. The saving act is in no instance represented as our 'giving ourselves to God'; it is, on the contrary, taking His Son as our Savior." Ryrie, Charles. Balancing the Christian Life. Moody Press, Inc., 1969 (p. 170).

"The second approach finds faith in the gospel alone an 'easy Believism' and seeks to add something to faith in order to accomplish salvation. To repent is to 'change one's mind,' and to believe is to remove one's trust from that in which it has rested and place it in Christ." Howard, William. "Is Faith Enough to Save?" Bibliotheca Sacra. January-March, 1942 (p.99).

"This kind of faith is not 'easy believism'. It is not easy to say, 'I can't save myself, I must recognize that there is something wrong with me, and I must seek help from someone else.'" Hook, H. Phillip. "A Biblical Definition of Saving Faith." Bibliotheca Sacra. April-June, 1964 (p. 133, 138).

"Eternal life is free. Discipleship is immeasurably hard. The former is attained by faith alone, the latter by a faith that works... the former brings with it the righteousness of God so that a man is 'justified freely by his grace' (Romans 3:24). The latter develops a personal righteousness, based on good deeds, so that a man was also 'justified by works' (James 2:24). The former constituted the believer God's workmanship, the latter fulfilled the wonderful purpose for which he had been created. The former cost man nothing, the latter could cost him everything, including life itself." Hodges, Zane C. The Hungry Inherit. Moody Press, Inc., 1972 (p. 114, 115).

"There is a vast difference between coming to Jesus for salvation and coming after Jesus for service. Coming to Christ makes one a believer, while coming after Christ makes one a disciple. All believers are not disciples. To become a believer one accepts the invitation of the Gospel, to be a disciple one obeys the challenge to a life of dedicated service and separation. Salvation comes through the sacrifice of Christ; discipleship comes only by sacrifice of self and surrender to His call for devoted service. Salvation is free, but discipleship involves paying the price of a separated walk. Salvation can't be lost because it depends upon God's faithfulness, but discipleship can be lost because it depends upon our faithfulness." DeHaan, M. R. Hebrews. Zondervan Publishing House, 1959 (p. 117).

"For the unregenerate man, repentance is the change of mind whereby he turns from unbelief to faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ." Post, Roger. "The Meanings of the Words Translated 'Repent' and 'Repentance' in the New Testament." Master's Thesis, Wheaton College, June 1972 (p. 80).

"There are those who, in their zeal to get people to turn from their sinful ways and receive the Lord, almost put repentance on a par with believing... Repentance, as it relates to Christ, means to change our minds about Him, who He is and what He's done to provide forgiveness and deliverance from our sins. When we place faith in Jesus as having taken our place personally on the cross and borne the penalty due our sins, then we're automatically repenting, because we couldn't accept Him in this way without having had to change our minds in some way concerning Him." Lindsey, Hal. The Liberation of Planet Earth. Zondervan Publishing House, 1974 (p. 136, 137).

"Discipleship is frequently equated with salvation and often erroneously made a condition for becoming a Christian". Pentecost, J. Dwight. Design for Discipleship. Zondervan Publishing House, 1971 (p. 11).

"Certainly discipleship is a most important aspect of our relation to Christ, but it belongs to the sphere of Christian life rather than entrance upon that life... One does not become a disciple in order to become a Christian, but because he has become a Christian by faith in the Savior, it is fitting that he embark upon a life of discipleship". Harrison, Everett F. "Must Christ be Lord to Be Savior?-No." Eternity, September 1959 (p. 14).

"There is no more piously subtle abrogation of the Gospel than to tell a Sinner that he must not only believe in the Savior, but dedicate himself to do God's will, crown the Savior Lord of his life, etc., etc. Obviously, dedication and service are highly desirable, but they are the privilege and the duty of the saved, never a condition of salvation for the unsaved (cf. Romans 12:1, 2)." Unger, Merrill F. God is Waiting to Meet You. Moody Press, 1975 (p. 117, 118).

"People are sometimes led to believe that there is saving value in some public confession of Christ, or profession of a decision. "With the heart man believeth unto righteousness." This is salvation. "With the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This is the voice of the newborn child speaking to and of its father. The only condition on which one may be saved is to believe." Chafer, Lewis Sperry. Salvation. Dunham Publishing Company, 1917 (p. 46).

SUMMARY
Lordship salvation is where someone teaches that there must be a commitment to Christ as Lord of one's life in order to be saved. Recently there has been a modification of this position to say that willingness to be controlled by the Lord at the time of salvation is all that is required in addition to faith in order to be saved. The message of faith only and the message of faith plus commitment of life can't both be the gospel; therefore, one of them is a FALSE GOSPEL and comes under the curse of perverting the gospel or preaching another gospel. Galatians 1:8, 9 says, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed." If only committed people are saved people, then where is there room for carnal Christians? What kind of dedication must be preached to people, if in order to be saved, they have already dedicated their lives to the Lord? Where do you stop if you start adding something else to this which is the gospel revealed in the Bible? Look at what God says about adding to the revelation of Jesus Christ (gospel), "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book (Revelation 22:18)." The Bible plainly declares that we are saved by faith, and not by works. Where does it say this? Ephesians 2:8, 9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast." What are you trusting in to get you to heaven?

* Written by Dr. Hank Lindstrom

The moment you put your trust in Jesus Christ, God who can read your mind knows, saves YOU and gives you the Gift of God, eternal Life.

You do not need anyone to pray over you, or pray for you, because this is between you and God in heaven. Because of your new trust in the shed blood of Jesus Christ you are now a child of God. Before you trusted in Jesus, God was your creator but now and forevermore he will be your father.

You are saved in a moment of time, because you are trusting in the true Savior now, not working your way to heaven day by day which is not even possible.

Once saved you can never be lost, for any reason. This is because you were born spiritually the moment you put your trust in Him. Just like your physical birth which brought you into this human world, your spiritual birth gave you a new spiritual life that is permanent. You were born-again, made righteous and holy in Gods eyes. In fact you have the righteousness of God himself, your are sinless and perfect in God's eyes now and that's why you can enter into a perfect heaven.

My favorite saying is:

God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved, He will only save those who are trusting to be saved.

You MUST put ALL your trust in Jesus to be saved, trust in the blood that He shed on the cross, trust that He is God in the flesh, trust that He made the complete payment for your sins, not just part; He paid for ALL of your sins (past, present, and future)! Trust that He rose again from the dead after 3 days and 3 nights, and in return for this trust, He gives YOU Eternal Life. All false Christians put part of their trust in Jesus and part of their trust the Church and part of their trust in themselves. If you put 99.99% trust in Jesus and 00.01% in something else, you will go to hell. It must be 100% trust in Jesus and what He did and 0% in you or your church! This information in critical... (grace always cancels works!) You are going to hell if it's by your works or you are going to heaven by Gods grace. It's as simple as that.

So I guess the question comes down to who are you trusting. Are you trusting yourself to get to heaven by being a good person and giving lots of money to your church or are you trusting Jesus, the lamb of God, that was slain for the sins of the world to get you to heaven? You receive the Gift of God (Eternal Life) as soon as you stop trusting in yourself, your church, your synagogue, your mosque, your money, or any other works and put your trust in Him and Him ALONE, Jesus Christ, Yeshua, The King of Kings, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the Alpha and Omega, the Mighty God.

False religions are everywhere and they will find you, the one true God and His plan of salvation must be found.

If all this makes sense to you and you would like to trust Jesus as your personal Savior right now then tell the Mighty God in Heaven of your decision to trust Jesus Christ as your only hope of heaven. Tell Him that you are no longer putting your trust in your actions, or your church, or your church membership, or in your money, or in your Rabbi, or in your synagogue or your Mosque but that you are putting all of your trust in Him and the shed blood of the cross to pay your sin debt. Thank Him for doing it for you! Thank Him for giving you the Gift of Eternal Life that He paid for with His life. There is no greater deed than that of laying down your life for another.

Will you trust Jesus as your Savior right now, the one who shed His precious blood on the cross of Calvary to pay for all your sins?

Sinners Prayer
Lord, I admit that I'm a sinner & I don't understand a whole lot about the bible, but I do believe that Jesus Christ died & paid for my sins in full, by His death & shed blood on the cross. I trust right now the He died for me, was buried & rose again from the dead and will live forever more. I trust Jesus Christ right now to save me, to be my savior, to forgive my sins & to give me the GIFT OF GOD Eternal Life. Amen

By reading this sinners prayer aloud, you are putting your trust in God and His plan of salvation. You are not saved by saying this prayer, you are saved the moment your mind made the switch from trusting in yourself to putting your COMPLETE TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST. That moment may have been five paragraphs up on this page or that moment may have been on another one of our pages. You will not feel any different, but you will be changed and changed for the better forever. Once you have trusted Jesus as your savior and received his gift of eternal life, this gift can NEVER be lost. You can NEVER go to hell for ANY reason. Your past, present and future sins were paid in full the moment you put your trust in Him. You are blameless and Holy in God's eyes now and FOREVER. If you have eternal life today what kind of life will you have in five years? ETERNAL! What kind of life will you have in ten years? ETERNAL!! What kind of life will you have in 50 years? ETERNAL!!! God does not give probationary life or temporary life, His gift is ETERNAL LIFE! Thanks be to GOD!

Why be good, now that I am assured of going to heaven? Because God's law of sowing and reaping still applies to you and me. You will reap what you sow. You will reap more than you sow and you will reap later than you sow. If you drink alcohol like a fish, you will reap a diseased liver. If you smoke like a chimney everyday, you will reap lung cancer. If you rob, murder, and steal you will reap a life in prison. You will reap what you sow. I guarantee it! Now that you are saved, when you do good things you WILL be rewarded here on earth and in Heaven. And when you do bad things you WILL lose rewards that God had planned on giving you here on earth and in Heaven. But you will NEVER lose your guarantee of going to heaven. That can never be lost for any reason!! You have God's word that your salvation can never be lost for any reason. You did not earn salvation and you do not work to keep salvation! Eternal Life, salvation, being born again, becoming a child of God, was, is, and always will be the GIFT OF GOD.

Remember: If your not saved forever... you are not saved!

Why is this true you might ask? Because if a person is not sure that they are saved TODAY / RIGHT NOW it means that they are still trying to be the savior! They can't be sure they are going to heaven because they don't know what sin's they may commit next week, next month or next year. We who have trusted in Jesus alone, can have comfort knowing that all our sins have been paid in full on the Cross of Calvary (past, present, and future sins). Jesus has already died for my sins so I don't need to pay for any sin I have or will commit in the future because Jesus already paid the price in full with His blood. So called Christians who say that you can lose your salvation because of suicide or murder or falling away from the church don't have a clue what the Bible says and clearly have not trusted Jesus ALONE!

Biblical Salvation is forsaking any other means of salvation but Christ and casting ourselves fully upon Him for eternal life.

The Gift of God, Eternal Life can never be lost once possessed for any reason. John 6:39 " And this is the Father's will which hath sent Me, that of all which He hath given Me I should LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day." You have God's promise that once you put your trust in Jesus you can never be lost for ANY reason whatsoever.

"For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” Romans 11:29 Again, God is telling you that this Gift of God that you have just received is without repentance. He can never take His gift back for any reason, no matter how bad you get, or how bad your sins are it is not possible. God would have to cease to exist for that to happen because He cannot lie.

In these last days of the end times of Bible prophecy, we will increasingly see persecution of born-again Christians, worldwide. Matthew 24:9-11, “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” Notice that many Christians will “BETRAY ONE ANOTHER.” Is this not what West Coast Baptist College is doing today, by propagating a false gospel of partial faith in Christ plus works? Is this not what Bob Jones University is doing, by betraying the inspired Word of God? Is this not what Baptist churches all across America are doing, by accepting the LGBTQ agenda? Where is all this horrible apostasy leading? How can the churches survive subversion from within by tares rising up everywhere nowadays?

Notice in Matthew 24:9-11 that Christians will even “HATE ONE ANOTHER.” Jesus is speaking to His disciples. Christians will be murdered for Jesus' name's sake. Many people will be offended the Bible foretells. There will be MANY FALSE PROPHETS who shall rise up, deceiving MANY! I get shivers as I read the Lord's Words, because we see it all happening already everywhere we turn. Hostility against Christians is rapidly escalating in the United States, and THERE IS A GENERATION rising up that doesn't look up to God...

Ladies and gentlemen, we are living in that generation! Please listen to Pastor Danny Castle preach the very needful sermon titled, “THE GENERATION THAT DOESN'T LOOK UP!

A changed life is the FRUIT of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and not a part of the ROOT of saving-faith (Galatians 5:22-25).

There are TWO VERY DIFFERENT plans of salvation being taught in churches today, including independent Baptist churches:

  1. PARTIAL FAITH IN CHRIST + WORKS — The false gospel of John MacArthur, Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, Paul Washer, Jack Chick, John Goetsch, Aiden Tozer, Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, Pat Robertson, William Lane Craig, Chip Ingram, Rick Warren, Paris Reidhead, C.S. Lewis, David Cloud and many others—errantly require a person to stop sinning (or be willing to stop sinning), to have intent to reform, make a full surrender to Christ, declare “Jesus as Lord,” count the cost, start a relationship with Jesus, invite Jesus into your heart, commit one's life to live for Jesus, change your ways, and forsake the world, AS A REQUIREMENT TO BE SAVED (as a prerequisite to placing your faith in Christ). This heresy is commonly known as “Lordship Salvation.” Jehovah's Witnesses, Paul Washer and Ray Comfort agree. John MacArthur and Mormons agree. Dr. John Goetsch Agrees With Seventh-Day Adventists. These false prophets all errantly teach that you cannot have salvation and your sins, you must turn away from them. In this false plan of salvation, the sinner is burdened to reform their own life of sin, which is behavior modification for salvation.

  2. FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE — The true Biblical Gospel teaches that we are saved solely by Christ's righteousness (Romans 10:3-4), and that no self-righteousness of any kind is required (Titus 3:5) because we have none to offer (Isaiah 64:6); neither does a person have to quit any sin to be saved (Romans 4:5-6; Acts 13:39), nor even to be willing to stop sinning. Charles Spurgeon himself rightly taught that THERE ARE NO CONDITIONS OF SALVATION! YOU ARE A SINNER! Unless you accept Christ's payment on the cross for your sins, believing that He resurrected bodily from the dead three days later, you will spend eternity burning in the fires of Hell. Harry A. Ironside, Curtis Hutson, John R. Rice, Jack Hyles and Michael P. Bowen (.pdf) are 100% correct on repentance and salvation! A desire to turn away from sinful living is not a requirement for salvation, anymore than such a request would be required to receive a birthday gift. God righteousness alone is wholly sufficient to save! You can have salvation and your sins, because getting saved is a matter of acknowledging one's sinnership and trusting the Savior, Who died on the cross to pay for our sins. It is a gift! In true salvation, the indwelling Holy Spirit makes changes as we grow in grace, if we obey the Lord (1st Peter 2:2; Romans 12:1).

The Old Testament law's PURPOSE is to be used as a measuring stick, by which when we are compared, we are silenced of any boasting of our own goodness (Ephesians 2:8-9). We all fall short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). Romans 3:19 teaches that God's law was given so that “ALL THE WORLD MAY BECOME GUILTY BEFORE GOD.” The purpose of the law is NOT to compel us to turn away from sin and walk the narrow path of self reform, so that God will accept our faith.

Modern Corrupt Bible Versions Pervert the Meaning of Repentance

This is why I rip against Bob Jones University and other apostate Bible colleges so much, and their shameful graduates and afflicted churches, like Harvest Baptist Church on Guam. They all endorse the corrupt modern Bible versions of the Devil. Let me show you a comparison between Mark 1:15 in the King James Bible (KJB) versus the New Life Version (NLV)...

KING JAMES BIBLE (KJB) - Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

NEW LIFE VERSION (NLV) - Mark 1:15, “He said, 'The time has come. The holy nation of God is near. Be sorry for your sins, turn from them, and believe the Good News.'”

Whoa! What a lie in the NLV! By the way, you'll find this same corruption in all the modern versions that were translated from the Greek of Brooke Westcott and Fenton Hort.

The Theology of Cain Versus the Theology of Abel

Since the very beginning of human civilization we see that mankind has had a problem with getting salvation right. Adam, the first man, sought to cover his nakedness (and that of his wife Eve) after they sinned by eating the forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. Adam sewed together some fig-leaves to cover their nakedness, because they were ashamed from guilt caused by sin. And may I say, we have a severe problem with nakedness in American culture. Muslim women come much closer to being right with their burka head coverings, than American women who strip down in public. To the same degree that a woman fears God, she's covers her body. Adam foolishly attempted to deal with his sins by covering them, but sin must be paid for. Thankfully, Christ paid for our sins! Jesus paid a debt that He did not owe, because we owed a debt of sin that we could not pay. The full price has been paid! Forgiveness of sins is a free gift, just waiting to be received by faith by anyone who wants it.

Sadly, most people don't want God's free gift, they want to earn it! Most people have been deceived by the Devil, misled to believe that works play a necessary part in our salvation. This was the sin of Adam, and it got him nowhere. This is why the Bible says in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Salvation is so simple that most people pass right over it, instead adhering to a partial faith plus works-based false plan of salvation, which is “another Gospel” (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4; Galatians 1:6-9). As Pastor Jack Hyles explains in his classic MP3 sermon, “The Sin Question And The Son Question,” many tares (unsaved people who appear as Christians, or wheat) don't even realize that they are tares. That is a critical point to understand. I have no doubt that Dr. John Goetsch is 100% sincere. I am fully convinced that he absolutely believes that what he is teaching about turning from sins to be saved is correct in his own thinking. He does not realize that HE IS AN UNSAVED TARE! I believe Dr. Goetsch is an honorable man and a good person, no doubt; however, he is WRONG on repentance and the Gospel! DR. GOETSCH IS A TARE, BUT THINKS HE IS WHEAT! No one is saved who ADDS turning from sins to faith alone.

From the beginning of time we see the conflict between two brothers, Cain and Abel. It is interesting that two siblings, who grew up in the same family, having the same parents, coming from the same conditions and background, would pursue two drastically different plans of salvation (theologies). How can that be? It testifies to the great truth that God has given a freewill to all humanity. We all make our own choices, and determine our own fate by those decisions. No one made Cain go down a wrong path. No doubt Cain was very sincere and thought the Lord would be very pleased, with the best grains his hard labor in the fields could produce. Cain brought the very best he could achieve and offer to God, and was heart-struck when God rejected it. Likewise, God will reject Dr. John Goetsch's self-righteousness, that he adds to the righteousness which is by faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ. What saith the Scripture? John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” There is no mention of repenting from sins.

Furthermore, we find the words “believe,” “believest” and “believeth” mentioned 87 times in the Gospel of John, which is God's Gospel tract according to John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” Not once, NOT ONCE, is any mention made of “repentance” in the Gospel of John. The word “repent” is not mentioned even once! That is because repentance is an automatic thing. That is, the person who believes has also repented. No one can place their trust in the Gospel without first turning away from whatever was hindering them from believing the Gospel. Therefore, it is not necessary to mention repentance when sharing the Gospel with someone.

All you need to do is make sure that they realize they are a guilty sinner in the sight of a holy God in Heaven. Romans 3:19-20, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” They need to know what they are being saved from, which is the wages of sin (the second death in Hell forever - Romans 6:23; Revelation 21:8). We deserve to be punished in Hell for our sins, but Christ has made the full payment on the cross with His precious blood, and anyone who by faith receives Christ's sacrifice as payment for their sins is saved eternally. Salvation is that simple! “THE GOSPEL” (or, “GOOD NEWS”) is comprised of three things; namely, Christ DIED on the cross for our sins, He was BURIED, and then He RESURRECTED three days later for our justification (i.e., to justify our faith in Him, because if Jesus didn't rise from the dead He cannot save us). 1st Corinthians 15:1-6 teaches “THE GOSPEL”!

Listen to what Pastor Harry Ironside correctly states in chapter 16 of his book, EXCEPT YE REPENT . . .

“In all that I have written I have failed completely to express what was surging up in my soul if I have given anyone the impression that I think of repentance as something meritorious which must be produced in man by self-effort ere he is fit to come to God for salvation.”

SOURCE: Dr. Harry Ironside, a quote from chapter 16, THE PREACHING THAT PRODUCES REPENTANCE, from his timeless classic book, EXCEPT YE REPENT.

In other words, you don't have to stop sinning to be saved! Nor do you have to make a full surrender to serve Christ to be saved. Nor do you have to recognize Jesus as absolute Lord of your life to be saved. These are NOT a part of God's plan of salvation. God's simple plan is that YOU ARE A SINNER! Christ paid your sin debt in full. Unless you accept the gospel as full payment for your sins, you will spend eternity in the fires of Hell after you hear the Lord's horrifying words... I NEVER KNEW YOU! (Matthew 7:21-23).

A lot of Christians have brushed the issue aside as a matter of semantics, but the difference between these 2 very different plans of salvation is day-and-night. Billy Graham is hellbound in his false plan of grace + works salvation. One includes a certain degree of self-righteousness (which is a false gospel); but the other is solely based upon God's righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:9), which is by the precious literal, physical, liquid, precious, blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ sprinkled on the heavenly Mercy Seat (Hebrews 9:12,22-24;12:24). JESUS IS PRECIOUS!!!

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
